I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. Can’t wait to play a PS2 game with touchscreen controls!!!!!

    1. Having played GTA China Town Wars on my old ipod Touch, I hope the controls are a lot better than that. I’ll wait for some reviews before picking it up.

      1. @nutbunnies:disqus @ScottColbert:disqus Don’t forget it offers gamepad support too! :D

        1. Ooh I did forget about that!

          1. I surely didn’t. I will be happy to use my PS3 controller with this.

          2. Will we actually be allowed to just plug our PS3 controller in our tablet/smartphone without messing around with the OS? Why do I think the answer will be NO? :-

          3. @NathanDrago:disqus Actually i think the answer is yes. I remember reading it became naively supported after 3.2

          4. I don’t know if it would work, but there is an app in the market meant to hook a PS3 controller up by bluetooth. It’s called Sixaxis controller I think.

  2. Why does the android version require dual core yet it is available in the itunes store for the 3GS?

    1. Not seeing where it says it requires dual core on this page or the market page..?

The market even says it’s compatible with my Moto Droid.

    2. Its not conpatible with the 3gs iphone 4 (single core 800mghz) and up… But this game doesnt deserve a small screen i want it on my ipad 2

  3. I don’t understand the use of the games title 3 times in the headline.. it’s not being released as 3 separate games is it?

    1. me neither. i suspect chris might have been channeling his inner gangsta?

    2. Lol! While I am about to drop my mixtape O_o Click the market link and you’ll see 3 separate uploads — all from Rockstar — for the different spellings.

      GTA spam =p

      1. I don’t think it’s for different spellings. Only one of them is compatible with my device (SGSII, Dual Core). Check out the package names. “com.rockstar.gta3aus” is the one that works for me (in Australia). There’s also “com.rockstar.gta3jpn”, so perhaps they’re for different regions?

        1. That actually makes a whole lot more sense. =)

        2. They are. I looked at the reason online, and it stated “Can’t be installed in your country”.

  4. Best post ever

  5. im playing it on my nexus s right now so i dont think the dual core thing is an issue

  6. works with Xperia Play too can’t wait till tomorrow for payday just to buy this game :)

  7. Waiting for 10 cents… 2 days left to go… lol

  8. So are the cheat codes still there?

  9. Does anyone know y its not able to b played on the HTC sensation Or now I have to go buy a fucking Samsung phone now that’s bullshit I love gta it would suck ass if they didn’t drop it for HTC devices.

    1. Yes it works just fine on the Sensation and EVO 3D

  10. Oh my gosh!! So my market account for my G2 is still active, though I’ve safely resetted the phone. And apparently this app is not compatible with the HTC G2. o.O

It will work with my Epic 4G Touch and Transformer I snagged during Rebecca Black Friday. :P

  11. Works great on resound. No issues on about 4th mission.

  12. it works on htc devices plays perfect on evo 3d. tested and working on HP TP CM7,Acer A100 and Dell Streak 7

  13. Why is it NOT compatible with my Droid X2 (even though that is one of the listed devices during release) YET it IS compatible (per Android Market) with my non-tegra LG Vortex? Makes no sense.

  14. According to the Rockstar web site, it is only compatible with the following deivices:

Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x

If you bought GTA3 for Android only to find out your device isn’t supported, and you can’t get a refund, let Rockstar know: https://twitter.com/#!/RockstarGames

The market says it is compatible with my Nexus S, but the Rockstar web site doesn’t list the Nexus S as being supported.

  15. Up and running on my viewsonic g tablet running vegan 7.1

  16. Anyone having audio issues?  Ingame sound not working on my Droid X2.  It works fine on my Xoom so I’m not super pissed, but I’d like to try it on my phone.

  17. WORKS ON MY SGS II (i9000 – EXYNOS)

:D hahaha guess they pussied out in the end and didn’t want to lose 10million sales buwawawawa

  18. I got a wii remote to control it but I cannot figure out how to keep map it

  19. Oh man, Chris…. oh man. I like you and stuff, but maybe you should lay low on the jokes and trying to be funny. I’m going to be honest with you, I sighed and did a face palm at your punch line, trying too hard to be funny is not cool, man.

  20. How can you be sooo excited about this game when you gave the KG Dogfighting app such scathing commentaries!?  Hypocrisy much?

  21. it’s xperia play optimised despite the fact it doesn’t say it is…works with the touchpads and all! XD
