AT&T to Customers: Would You Be Interested in the Galaxy Nexus?

37

Well this is very interesting. AT&T took to Google+ to measure consumer interest in the phone that everyone outside of the UK have been waiting for – the Galaxy Nexus. On a post completely unrelated to the Galaxy Nexus, they were swarmed with questions about whether or not they’d get the phone, prompting the carrier to respond with a question – how many of their Google+ fans actually want the device?

Giving the comment a +1 casts your “I want it and I want it NOW” vote. After some time they’ll present the numbers to their product teams to determine whether or not they should gear up to offer it. Unfortunately, this also means AT&T probably didn’t have plans to offer it initially, or had to wait after a brief period of exclusivity on Verizon. In any case, they’re listening and want your +1’s. Head over there and inflate that number (it’s a few comments down)! [AT&T Google+, thanks Roman!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. It’s probably just a big lulz moment for the AT&T social networking crew.

  2. If T-Mobile doesn’t get it first, ATT would be my only other choice of carrier

    1. Either way I have bought my last 3 Google phones unlocked so I am probably  going to import it, if I have to. The good thing about this phone is that it works on At&t and T-mobile’s HSPA+ network at up to 21mbps.

      1. Must be nice to be rich!

        1. I have been called a baller before but I’m not rich, I’m smart and lucky. I see it as this:

To switch to AT&T, Sprint or Verizon I would have to pay $50 to $60 more per month since I am using the Nexus S on T-mo. Verizon would be $1380/year plus $300 for the phone before taxes and on T-mo I pay $720/year and $530 for the phone.

So even though I buy my phones full price I still save $430/year.

Now what I mean by lucky is that we actually get good service and good speed here in Houston and T-mobile got the Nexus S with free tethering still intact.

If you really examine your habits then anyone can save money and still get the phone of their dreams and other things like a new laptop every year.

          ^_^

  3. Yes we want this phone.

  4. I’m going to have to pay full price for it anyways since I’m 1) still in the middle of my contract 2) I will not be moving to Verizon just for this phone. I’m planning on importing it in January/February.

Back on topic: YES! I would like AT&T to offer it right now.

  5. I’m not even on AT&T and I’ll still +1 it. SOMEONE in the US needs to get this damn phone already.

  6. hey if its unlocked i will take one and go to tmo

    1. Yes yes yes!!! +1

  7. Massive fail of epic proportions that AT&T didn’t plan on carrying this device resorting to a poll.

  8. Yes… but not on AT&T?

  9. Thanks for the information. I am glad someone is listening at ATT.

  10. I wonder if this is a ploy to keep AT&T customers from leaving to Verizon because they think its coming.

    1. Don’t speak too soon.  AT&T may get the phone before Verizon!

      1. See?  Its working already :)  AT&T will not get it before Verizon.  I’d put money on it.  Heck, 20 bucks says it hits Verizon before December.

        1. I’ll bet someone has one running on AT&T before someone has one running on Verizon… Just Sayin….

          1. Yeah, for 800 bucks, have at it.  :)

          2. Someone already does ;).

  11. 148 pluses?  So, basically, everyone on Google+ wants this!

  12. A testament to how out of touch these fat cat carriers are with what consumers want.

  13. does a fat baby fart?  Of course we want the Nexus!

  14. What vzw exclusively? We still haven’t even heard when vzw will even release this damm phone….And the way it looks, they don’t even know themselves…

  15. As long as ATT dont touch the radio, which already supports AWS bands as well as ATT bands and ATT manages to keep it unlocked Tmo users are good to go as well.

  16. How do I go like this I can’t seem to find it after clicking the link lol

  17. can someone please get the G-Nex ball rolling with Sprint???  here is their Google+ page –

  18. I have AT&T and they better release it, or someone else on GSM…im going to buy it off contract anyway…Verizon always gets the better phones. AT&T has maybe 3 good Android phones right now

  19. If I were AT&T CEO, I would fire anybody in the phone marketing department. This is out of touch to consumer reality

  20. Eh, I have no interest in this phone but fully support other buyers..

  21. Did ATT remove this post!?! I can’t find “Would You Be Interested in the Galaxy Nexus?” anywhere on the google+ page…. I was going to vote! LOL Maybe all the traffic to the google plus page overloaded their network, so they deleted the post… they may be working on a new data plan/price tier to accommodate the post!?! I hope they upgrade their network soon! It’s affecting their google+ page now!?! I can’t imagine when it’s on 4G!?! ROFLOL!!!!

  22. I would rather AT&T work with Samsung to fast-track ICS for the GSII.

  23. Chuck Norris beat you guys to it.

    1. chuck norris had the gn before any of us had our first cell phone. in fact he is running android 12.7.4 on his quantum nexus!

  24. this is a fake. read the first sentence. seriously out of touch with the English language for a company like AT&T. I’m thinking this was someone’s idea of a joke.

  25. Andrew…ithink your comment has the most sense to it than any other comment on here…though ihave not read them all…I am betting this is a fact.

  26. Hell yes at&t we want the galaxy nexus & the galaxy note!
