If you’re currently a T-Mobile Sidekick 4G users I have some good news and I have bad news. Let’s start off with the good. An OTA update is headed your way in the form of software update T849UVKJ2 and has begun rolling out yesterday. Now are you ready for the bad news? Just like the last update, this one will not be delivering the Gingerbread update you’ve been waiting for.
Features from the T849UVKJ2 update include the ability to turn off the optical trackpad on the Sidekick, although I’m not sure why you’d want to. Other improvements include device stability and a handful of bug fixes. If you haven’t been prompted yet, you can jump on over to your Settings > About Phone to pull the update manually. Let us know if/when you receive it in the comments. Good luck!
Thanks, Rob!
at least its supported in a way sighh this thing definitely isn’t seeing 4.0
Not “officially” anyway =p
True true but its tough even getting gingerbread on it isn’t it? im a go check xda
shit i forgot this thing came out. poor bastards. LOL. dont feel bad i have a Samsung Vibrant. i know thats gonna get a few chuckles. Just remember i hate every single android user who has ever turned on their GPS and had it find them somewhere near Earth. #Fuck Sammy GPS
The sidekicks GPS is GREAT! i own one and get routes almost instantly
No problem guys. As soon as I hear even a whisper of Gingerbread for it you guys will be the first to know. Sidekick users, try the checkin method on the dial pad to snag it sooner, seen it work on some and not on others.
