HTC has announced a new entry into their smartphone lineup designed to deliver Android on a budget. The HTC Explorer is an Android 2.3.5 device featuring a 3.2-inch HVGA display, 3MP camera, and 600MHz processor. Not a blazing powerhouse by any means, but the Explorer looks to cut into the segment of the smartphone market dominated by low-cost alternatives such as the Huawei Ideos X3 and LG Optimus One. It isn’t the most sleek or full-featured device, but Sense 3.5 and a finely-tuned Android build give the Explorer all the functionality you could want from a device of its class. While HTC is touting the handset for its wallet-friendly demeanor, exact pricing was not announced. Nor was a release date, though the phone should land sometime in early Q4 throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The US may or may not get some version of the Explorer later on.
