New HTC Runnymede Phone Gets Clearer Press Shot

28

The HTC Runnymede looks like a great device on paper, horrible name aside (we’re almost 100% sure HTC won’t debut it with this name). Its specs are marvelous, albeit not quite out of the ordinary up against phones HTC’s already released. We’ve got an experience-ruining 4.7-inch WVGA display, 768MB og RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel rear camera with a front-facing camera, a 1.5GHz processor and more.

According to a leak a little over a week ago we should also be expecting newly-acquired Beats technology inside. Thanks to PocketNow, we’ve gotten a more straight-on look at the device. It looks like it could be white with a glass exterior, though we aren’t going to let our imaginations run too wild on this one. Supposedly set to come out this holiday season.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Yep, looks like every other HTC phone. Really hope to see something new out of them soon.

    1. Are you serious? HTC has released every conceivable form-factor. Where have you been?

      1. Are YOU serious?

Yes HTC will release something different from time to time but the majority of it differs little from what they did with the nexus and evo.

        1. It’s hard to get excited about HTC recycled designs
But I do love the internal/hardware specs

          1. yea, but except for the slightly larger display, just go with the upcoming Ruby. Other specs about the same, and it’s going to have 1GB RAM instead of 768 MB.

        2. Well, they ARE all Smartphones. What were you hoping for? Describe a realistic form-factor that HTC has’t launched. You’re thinking of Blackberry.

          1. Give me a break. If you visit any tech blog you’ve got to realize this isn’t exactly a novel complaint. HTC’s design culture hasn’t changed since the evo. It has nothing to do with form factors.

  2. Bring me info on the VIGOR… only the Vigor will make me happy today…

  3. am i the only one who thinks 4.7 is getting too big?? i have a photon, and at 4.3 its a little chunky..

    1. I think so too, im getting the SGS2 (Epic Touch), and I consider myself as taking a chance on its 4.5 in screen. No way I’d go any more.

    2. you are not alone……..Cause, you NEHHH-VERRRR…walk alone…..lalala(forgot how the song goes on…)

  4. No you are not Lawrence. I am afraid I am going to be walking around with a big screen TV in my pocket before too long..

  5. Is it confirmed this is really a phone?

  6. This has got to stop. Not only is the phone’s screen too big, it’s absurdly too big. I sincerely hope no one buys this to send a clear message to the phone manufacturers: THESE SCREENS ARE TOO BIG!

    1. you know some movie-watching freaks are going to gobble this thing up. Bigger is better in the US, even when it comes to our phones. Which incidentally used to fit in our pockets without looking like we stashed something in said pocket.

    2. …if its too big for YOU,then dont buy it.

  7. I think the more important letdown is the fact that it is wvga and not hd. I do agree that 4.7 is too big, I had an infuse and thought it was right on the edge of being too big. I personally think 4.3 is probably the sweet spot as far as screen sizes go.

  8. With a minimal amount of bezel, including no capacity buttons (if it’s using ICS), it may not be bigger than a GSII Epic Touch. I’d rather have on screen buttons with a bigger screen, than physical buttons with a smaller screen.

    1. I think it is odd that there is more bezel than there is on its WP7 sibling.

  9. At last, a phone for Andre the Giant. I get pinky fatigue from propping up my Thunderbolt for 20 minutes or so, but this thing must be downright wieldy.

  10. i love htc..cry me a river if most htc’s look the same..well funny thing they are one of the top manufacturers in the world…for example (vomiting) iphone always look the same..number one..is the system..and phone itself…what do i need super unnecessary curves nooo..so shut the hell up…problem is most of your brains seems to be recycled.

  11. Honestly, the screen size is awesome but the resolution is pitiful. At 4.7″ a WVGA resolution is going to look so stretched. Shoulda at least did qHD.

  12. og RAM is the best kind of RAM. ;-)

    1. og like lotsa lotsa RAM.

  13. Im my opinion it ugly…and its probably just an android version of the Titan which i think the Titan is really cool looking….

  14. marketing *anything* with ‘runny’ in the title is bound to fail.

  15. At last!

    A white phone!

  16. The only reason I don’t want to get this is because I don’t think the ICONTROLPAD will work with it. I sure hope it works with the Vigor. I need to e-mail the owner.
