The TouchWiz UX update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 — the new user interface overhaul most owners were perfectly content without — has apparently been halted to “assess progress and ensure…a positive experience for customers.” The most likely scenario is that some sort of bug has been uncovered throughout the initial rollout of the update, but Samsung isn’t coming clean with any specifics. If you haven’t been given your chance to update yet, you were probably better off without it anyway.

I hated the Touchwiz update, I actually reverted to 3.1 vanilla… It all was too “big” and felt “toy like”. It was pretty polished and overall felt smooth, but I hated the color choices and menu styles and such… just YUCK.
If a decent 3rd-party ROM isn’t created and maintained by someone in XDA without the Touchwiz changes, I’m actually probably going to sell my 10.1 and switch to a different tablet (don’t feel like building and maintaining my own ROM).
The upcoming Lenovo tablet looks nice (especially the full-size SD Card slot).
The touchwiz update actually brought along a bunch of improvements.. the interface design itself is up to personal preference but some of the lag fixes and included apps like the ebook reader are actually worthwhile.. I wouldn’t completely bash it..
I like some aspects of it, like the cleaner looking notification bar, with the options to turn radios on and off, the nicer looking navigation keys, faster browser, etc. My complaints are that the new widgets, Exchange e-mail and Social Hub don’t work. Otherwise I like it.
TouchWiz has a bug in Media Hub. It won’t play any video you purchased and downloaded from the hub. Everytime you try to play, the app just dies/frozen up. I have a case open with Samsung, and they promised to have a fix in 3 to 4 days, and now it 6 days and counting. Lame!!!!!!
the touchwiz update brought a lot of good to the galaxy tab so i don’t think you should be knocking it… i could have done with out the color revamp, i liked the original black bars everywhere but the update brought a lot of good features that i was looking forward to, and they work quiet well and are integrated nicely…
I can see why others might like it, it is pretty polished and did bring some nice fixes and tweaks… though the exchange support (for meetings and such) seemed broken when I tried it out.
It’s probably great for some people, but it’s definitely not my cup of tea.
