Retooled Motorola Droid Bionic Launching August 4?

8

It’s a far cry from the spring release first quoted when it was unveiled back at CES in January, but a new leak suggests that the redesigned Motorola Droid Bionic could launch August 4th. Though the handset will land later than initially anticipated, it should still manage to be the first dual-core, 4G LTE Android smartphone for Verizon. The Bionic hasn’t been officially unveiled in its new form, but leaked images show a handset with a 4.5-inch screen, updated user interface, and WebTop capabilities.

Note the leak also confirms the July 14th release of another dual-core Droid handset, the Motorola Droid 3.

  1. You almost had me… there are too many similarities between “rooted” and “retooled” and I started to get excited before I read the whole thing…lol

    1. I thought the very same.

  2. ’bout time. Now it’s buy a crappy smartphone, lock-in unlimited, return it, reactivate my dumbphone and then buy the Bionic when released. OK Verizon, have it your way.

    1. Exactly what I did last week…

  3. Retooled =/= rooted…. I need to learn to read.

I have such high hopes for this phone… I hope it lives up.

  4. I’ve been so disappointed with Verizon’s poor Android performance since they got iPhone. Up until then they always had cutting edge phones, but ever since then they’ve been a generation behind the other carriers.

    1. Which is why I’m jumping ship to another carrier (probably Sprint) if they continue down their current path of tiered plans and sub-par androids (compared to the competitions selection at least). I know I’m getting to keep my unlimited data, but for how long? And I know the Bionic’s gonna be a great phone…but common, the other carriers are getting a selection of great phones so their customers have a choice.
