For the third straight month HTC revenues have hit a new high, rising 10.9 percent from May’s total to reach a record $1.55 billion USD. Second quarter revenue topped out at $4.2 billion, surpassing earlier projections of $4.17 billion. In total HTC’s revenues have grown 19.43 percent since the first quarter of 2011, and the recent figures suggest growth won’t be stopping anytime soon. Market experts are projecting that HTC will overtake RIM to become the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Estimates place handset shipments at 21 million for the first half of the year, though HTC’s full earnings report has not yet been released.

There’s a reason HTC revenues are going up, while Motorola is losing market share. Customer unfriendly policies like encrypted bootloaders do affect mindshare. Motorola – pay attention!!
Yet still no Gingerbread for the G2
You’ll never see it on the G2 either unless you root. If you didn’t get the memo, the G2 reached EoL a while back.
People have said they’ve recieved replacement G2’s with GB on board. Where is the public update? The Sensed version got GB before stock. That was really the final straw for me. I use a local carrier, that piggy backed on t-mobile. I got crap speeds. I ended up switching to VzW before the tiered data kicked in, so I can get grandfathered in. I got the Thunderbolt, as it has been cracked. Rooted and rom’d the first day. Now running Cyanogen. Battery life is MUCH improved.

Probably because of all the WP7 phones they sold, I hear they’ve added ringtones and multitasking in Mango, sick!
