Well, what do we have here? An image of a Nokia N9 running Android? This image is said to be of a real Nokia prototype actually running Android 2.3, and not just a shoddy port of it. The image comes from the guy who leaked the Nokia SeaRay images you may have seen a while ago running Windows Phone 7. We can’t know for sure if this is real or not, but we do know that Nokia was looking at all of their options before they signed with Microsoft and Android was likely adapted to this device in experimental prototype form. Whatever the case may be, it will be a long time, if ever, before we see this coming to fruition. Take a good look now, folks. [Engadget]
It’s too bad that Nokia made the decision to go solely with M$. That N9 is one sexy phone
I think you can be sure there will be large amounts after-market support for the final non windows nokia phone.
they’re getting out of the phone business entirely and handing it to MS, assuming the deal goes through. They snuck in Elop to hand the company to MS, and now that’s what he’s done. However, this is not the first time they’ve done something like this. Nokia didnt’ start with phones.
none of this is good though, but you can’t really help it when your CEO is an ex-MS employee who is now becoming a MS employee again.
That looks like a bloody high resolution
Long time? How about never. Nokia is on a list of 10 brands that aren’t expected to make it much longer.
side effects of reading too much BS.
Actually, it is showing up on far more reputable sources than here. The people who make the list have a very good track record.
Come on, Quentyn. That is ridiculous. First we can’t even see the hardware so it might as well be any phone hardware, Motorola or LG or whatever.
Second, do you really think “that’s how Android would have looked on Nokia”? That’s a prototype at best, without ANY optimizations done to it. Saying that in your headline, you’re just implying Android would look THAT BAD on Nokia. And you know that’s not true.
? I mentioned in my article that this was likely in experimental prototype mode, if real. I didn’t even suggest it was 100% real.
This could be running Ice Cream Sandwich! Remember, you can see Gingerbread lurking beneath Honeycomb! I wish Nokia would make a Nexus phone. That would be sweet!
Lol relax nokia fan boy…it’s just his opinion of a crap phone company (my opinion) that totally avoided android for microsoft…don’t get your panties in a bunch
crappy like the sub par phones from htc and friends
Crappy like the software doesn’t take advantage of the hardware. HTC and friends push out phones constantly with good implementation of both. If a phone suffers from a issue they willing to fix the problem. Nokia on the other hand doesn’t know what is going on right now. One minute there symbian supporters, then they want to innovate with Meego but backs out, then they want to go for WP7 and Meego but still is holding back Meego and kills off many devs on Meego. This is while releasing phones that are great in hardware but suffers in usability and become extinct everytime they change there minds. And this is while there losing the value of the company.
In my humble opinion there is no reason to get mad at the writers since they merely try to bring us all the rumors. leaks and probables and future releases in a single spot. May be it’s real, maybe it’s fake who cares. It like TMZ if they think there is something going down they report it and try to be the first to have reported it. Keep up the good work guys…
Thanks for understanding, Jas!
lol it could be just a picture? screenprint? rofl
This actually could be a higher resolution though. Remember the Dell Venue when it was still known as the Thunder in prototype form? The Thunder was running Android at something even higher than qHD or the iPhone 4’s res. At least it looked like it did. There’s even video proof on engadget of a working Thunder prototype with a high res, so I don’t think this is fake. Not that it matters though since Nokia chose WP7.
This sounds interesting…
we will have it on N9 soon :p @ XDA but in closed testing :p
Nokia could be swimming in cash if they could lose the ego and use Android.
