Samsung Now Selling Tab 10.1 USB Adapter for $20

32

With all of the cool features in Android 3.1, the one a lot of users were most excited about was USB host support. Unfortunately, those who had their eyes set on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 were heartbroken to find out that the tablet does not have a standard USB 2.0 port. I mentioned this in my review and noted Samsung would most likely be selling an adaptor and, well, here we are. $20 to get it, but it’s worth the price of admission for all the cool things you’ll be able to do. Head over to Samsung’s site to order it now.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. It’s on back order, like it has been all week. What are you guys talking about?

    1. Technically, they’re still selling it. So every word in the post is accurate.

      1. Yeah but you can not even order it. You have to wait for an email from Samsung and they will let you know when it’s available. It’s a stupid post. I expect better from Phandroid.

        1. Then why are you on the Phandroid site? I’m sure all the 10.1 accessories will be sold in Best Buy when the tablet comes out. Relax…

          1. No they won’t, if Samsung’s own site has it on back order you think Best Buy will have it? I doubt that. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again it’s a stupid post.

          2. You is a fag bro…don’t hate on phandroid cause you is pmsing bro…

          3. Actually, yes I do think Best Buy will have it on launch day. Very likely.

          4. And im going top be able to get it for extra cheap with my wonderful employee discount

        2. Calm down. It’s a helpful post for people like me who never even knew they sold something like this. Just because it doesn’t help you doesn’t make it a stupid post.

    2. exactly, this isn’t news. you still cant buy it!

      1. Just checked this morning and it looks like it’s available to buy now on their website

  2. Should include it for free

    1. Read? Above?

      1. What?  Huh?

  3. Just what I’d want hanging off my sleek tab (NOT)

    1. When you are already plugging some janky usb cable into it, why would you care if there’s a dongle on the end?  I wish they had just used a standard port, but this is hardly worth bitching about.

  4. $20 for USB adapter, and $40 for HDMI adapter. Both of which should’ve come standard with the device. And they’re samsung’s 30pin proprietary ports. Still an awesome device though.

  5. I got my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 from the Best Buy on the 8th, (Exclusive Launch up in New york). It comes with a USB adapter you’ll be happy to know, no worries. this is for if you lose yours or if it breaks I’m guessing.

    1. I got mine too (day after launch) but I think this adapter is different. the one we have lets us connect the tablet to a computer (male to female) I think this one lets us connect devices to our tablet (female to male)

or I could be wrong., just my guess.

    2. Not the same adapter buddy. Your talking about a charger, this is for plugging usb devices into your TAB

  6. How does this connect to the tab?

    1. to the 30 pin, same place the charger plugs into

  7. err, I might be wrong actually, what it comes with is a plug on one end (that fits into the tablet’s port) and a usb on the other end, not an actual USB port that sticks out of the tablet.

    1. Good you realized that. I can not even get this to connect to my Mac. What a dumb company Samsung is. Android File Transfer does not work and Kies is not finished. They better get this fixed and fast or I am returning it!

      1. its cuz you have a mac. apple sucks lol. sorry had to do it :)

      2. Why should they bother to support Apple? I certainly wouldn’t if I was getting sued by them (I wouldn’t even if i wasn’t!) What do you need Kies for anyways? I’ve had my tab a few weeks and find no need for that software.

  8. So while it msy not have an sd card slot, we could technically use usb storage with this?

  9. i dont like where samsung is headed with their tablets.
they are becoming the apple of android.
random connector and no sd cardslot -_-
but the hardware is otherwise gorgeous!

    1. I feel the same way. I was disappointed to see that they nearly mirrored the iPad with the revised Tab 10.1. However, we luckily to have choices and not only one too choose from :)

  10. So the thing to remember folks is the 10.1 in the USA (your version 1) is version 2 outside the USA (we had the 10.1V) weeks ago and now superceded (no one saw that coming). Your 10.1 is made to compete with the iPad2, thinner and lighter. The now superseded 10.1V is thicker and has a better camera than the NEW 10.1 (8mp vs 5MP) and the 10.1V was designed to compete with the Motrola Xoom. At the time the Xoom did not have a working SD Card (still doesn’t) and of course neither does the iPad2. SO based on that no full USB and no MicroSD, so the adapter is worthwhile. Also a good reason to buy a 32gb vs a 16gb if required. Rgrds @mr_internet

  11. Asus Transformer, better and cheaper ;)

  12. They should have a USBport in their dock, that would make it perfect for gaming on a bigger screen. How am I suppose to connect a controller and to hdmi at the same time now?!
