The Shack is trying to get users into their new trade-in program by debuting a smorgasbord of deals for different phones this weekend. You can get as much $100 for certain phones when trading them in which can go a long way if you don’t like dealing with eBay or Craigslist. They also have the Samsung Epic 4G for $99.99 this weekend – the device is normally $249.99 from Sprint. Check out the full slate of Android deals from Radio Shack below.

· Sprint HTC EVO Shift 4G: Beginning Sunday, March 20, customers will receive a $100 guaranteed trade-in when they trade in their old handset using Trade & Save and activate a new EVO Shift 4G. The $100 trade-in value reduces the Shift 4G to only $49.99 on new two-year activations!

What DO these companies do with our old phones? Sell em as referbs?
My friend just bought the Atrix for 30 bucks! He was supposed to turn in his old iPhone 3 and never did. Two weeks have gone by and no word from the Shack.
These are hardly great deals. An EVO 4G with a clean ESN will sell for well over $300 on ebay. Even a phone with a bad ESN will sell for over $200.
is the only for new activations? can turn in your phone and get money off the full price for existing members that aren’t upgrading
Does anyone know if there’s a way to buy these phones? As an app developer, I would love to stock up on refurbished phones for app testing.
@Kevin:
I know that Best Buy uses dealtree and many trade in items wind up on cowboom
http://www.cowboom.com
(a best buy company)
Theres also swappa.com, which will give much more for old phones. For example, you can trade in an og droid for $150.
You’d most likely be better off selling your old phone on Ebay. It’s more work, but probably more money. I got $120 for my Cliq.
OMG fifty dollar for phones that you can put on craigslist and sell easily for $300? I don’t know about you guys but I’m dying to sell one of my $600 phones for way less than I can sell it for!! The sad part is they are going to turn around, wipe your phone and put in a new battery and use it as a refurb. Prolly a way they can move the brand new phones, and them have the one you traded in if something happens to some1 esle phone
You guys realize they aren’t asking you to trade in your $600 phone right? If you do that’s your own mistake. Not that $50 for a $20 dumbphone is necessarily worth locking yourself into a 2 year contract on a 1 year old phone.
They know the Epic and Evo are yesterday’s phones at this point. They’re probably worried about the warehouses full of these phones and how they’re going to unload them. I bought my Epic in December and I’m already eager to trade up…
Um, what silow said. A few months ago I traded in what was probably a 10 year old POS prepaid phone for $100 off a new Evo. They offered to give me another $100 for my old Hero. I LOL’ed.
I DO wonder what they did with that one.
