We weren’t the most aware bunch of folks when it came to the iPhone 4 launch on Big Red – you guys understand, I hope – but we were still kind of interested to see how the crowds would be. Folks laughed at the DROID Incredible and DROID X’s launch lines – which were respectable, I might add – but get a load of this: at least 20 people were staffed to greet the 2 standing in line at one location.
It looks a bit embarrassing, actually. One of our readers had this to say about it:
Crisis Averted guys. There were a whopping two people at this Apple store during the Verizon iPhone launch this morning, LMAO. The iPhone has been destroyed by Android.
We know there were a lot more than that at other stores, though. From reports we’ve been hearing – including one from our very own Rob Jackson – there were 30-40 folks at some stores. But even that doesn’t take away from the numbers AT&T are usually able to pull.
What the hell is going on, then? Have Verizon folks really bought into Android that much? Is iOS just not gaining much traction? Or did most of the folks who really wanted the phone already pre-order it online well before they were on physical store shelves? Or does that particular Apple store just suck?
As the tootsie pop commercials say, “the world may never know,” but we know one thing: we feel sorry for all of those Apple Store employees in the video above. I’m wondering what our friends at iSource have to say about this. [Thanks Jdog!] [Engadget]
LEWL!
Okay, I love Android, but this borders on fanboyism, seriously, couldn’t you find anything better to put up?
ROTFLMAO..
They ordered online…idiots.
An android website that has articles about the iPhone launch? Wow…that’s kind of pathetic, isn’t it?
I have Android on AT&T (Captivate) and iPhone on Verizon, I think they both have their good and bad points, and enjoy using both. I wouldn’t say it was failure, Verizon sold more iPhones in 2 hours than any other phone launch-
http://hothardware.com/News/Verizon-Sells-More-iPhone-4-Units-In-Two-Hours-Than-Any-Other-Phone-On-Launch-Day/
Who cares? Besides didn’t they already break the first days sales record with the pre-order?
It pays to stick to the facts ;)
If you wanted an iPhone badly enough to stand in line, you’re probably on contract with AT&T already.
Its wild tho. AT&T has online orders, yet there were always these huge lines for the iPhone on AT&T.
.
Maybe folks are waiting to see if the iPhone 5 is coming to Verizon? Maybe everyone that wanted an iPhone already ordered online? Maybe some folks are actually waiting for their upgrades or contracts to run out? Maybe most of those who ordered online were AT&T customers who switched to Verizon?
.
Its alot of variables involved. If Verizonand Apple wanted to capitalize on the hype, they shouldnt have had online orders….THEN we woulda saw those huge line we normally see for the iPhone..
.
They anticipated huge online orders, and they are anticipating long lines. So far only one has happened..
I’m not surprised by this. The iPhone is months older than better/faster Droids like the Droid X. The Droid X is also selling for free online (check out the deals at http://BuyDroidPhones.com ), whereas the iPhone starts at $200! The market has matured greatly since the latest iPhone.
FINALLY!!!
though sad it was phandroid…
but why is no one reporting on this???
that shit was a disaster!
afterward, apple lost 10billion in stock value!!
but NOOOO ONE reported on it!
engadget didnt report on it until 11pm last night!
thinking no one would pay attention!
BUT! it has gotten so far over 1000 comments!
the shit is going down! and with ms move to nokia…they both going DOWN!!
its like the runway has been cleared for android. im seriously going to be working on my app everyday!
ITS OUR TIME!!
#ultrafanboyhere
Yes, please more facts. There is nothing here to support thoughts of iPhone Failure or Android domination.
iCrap FAIL
It’s a funny video, but not a super huge deal in my opinion. I bought my OG Droid on day one, and I was the only person in the store. Further, if VZW’s press is to be believed, the ViPhone pre-order was their single biggest launch ever (therefore, beating any Android handset launch thus far.)
Title was meant to be humorous. Please don’t take it seriously.
I walked by my local Verizon store twice yesterday. They had stanchions set-up for a non-existent line, security guards with headsets, greeters, about 20-30 staff in the store, and maybe 2-3 customers in the store.
My buddy pre-ordered a Verizon iPhone with no contract, sold it on E-Bay for over $900 w/in a couple hours of posting.
I’d say that’s pretty successful. =]
android F.T.W.
Only VZW customers could pre-order so it can’t be that pre-orders were so high. Plus, if that were the case then they wouldn’t need to staff VZW and Apple stores with so many stiffs. This has to be disappointing to them and I’m sure we will find that out within the next 4 weeks. I think we were all expecting for Android growth to slow down for a couple months but this is telling us that it’s not going to.
haha saw this earlier over at n4g. i think it’s a combination of a lot of things as to why there were only two people at this store. one thing some are forgetting about is that a new iPhone will be coming out in about another 4 months, which also plays a factor into this scenario. people are playing it smart and waiting to see what happens.
Too funny. At least they were good sports about it.
I’m guessing they also greatly reduced the pre-order numbers so that they could ‘sell out’ early.
@everyone_who_is_complaining_about_this_story: A big deal has been made about the one carrier limit of the iPhone, and how it ‘lead to the success of Android’, which ‘otherwise would have never happened’ (paraphrasing). There is a lot of speculation about how this will affect Android and iOS growth numbers.
My guess is, and this seems to confirm it, it won’t be but a blip on the numbers, much like the iPhone 4 was last Summer. But it’ll still be interesting to see the long term effects of it.
To top it off, this is the Apple store at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN…the second largest mall in the U.S.
That mall area looks dead, not just the store.
The Crapple fanbois were busy online ordering funeral floral arrangements.
I went to my local Best Buy store that morning and there was NO customers at the Wireless section. I spoke with the Manager and she said that they scheduled all the Wireless employees to be there that morning, but they sent all but 2 employees home early because there was no big crowd like they anticipated. I asked her what the chances were that they would sell out of their iPhone supply, she said 0%!!!! The iPhone 4 is old news. Everyone wants a 4g phone now.
You know who benefited the most with the VZW launch of the iPhone? Tech blogs. (Traffic numbers must be off the charts.)
Now for the iRony. As I was typing this (I swear), I got a text from VZW saying that I can now upgrade early at the lowest promotional prices available. I guess they have some phones from Cupertino left over.
I think it’s probably because everyone knows a new iPhone will be coming in the next few months. Why would they want to buy a brand new year old phone when he new one is right around the corner?
This is why I wont ever go to this website again. A bunch of droid fanboys sprouting crap out of their mouth. Lots of stores had 40 or 50 people in line. But still who cares? Write something news worthy and maybe earn some respect from someone other then 12 year old boys who never leave their house. Dissapointing.
and you guys call iphone users fanboys, hypocrits
I am both a Verizon customer and Apple consumer. I am among those waiting to see whether an iPhone 5 appears this summer on a faster 4G network. It was tempting to buy it now, but I’ve been waiting so long for the Verizon-iPhone marriage, what’s another few months…
@Droid X Fan,
I wouldn’t crow too much about the “better/faster” Droid X. I switched over from an iPhone 3GS. I wanted to like the X and I do like the large screen and the quality of the sound in my recorded videos is really good.
Other than that, it’s been a disappointment. Every time I try to use Google Search, it locks up. Every time. My call quality is worse, I get as many, maybe more, dropped calls, the battery life is much worse, and I don’t see any real speed difference. The number of apps that I have installed that either don’t work at all or don’t work correctly is disturbing. Layar and Ringdroid (and other ringtone editors) are examples.
When I compare it to my wife’s iPhone 4, it’s no contest.
Like I said, I really did want to like the Droid X and Android overall, but it’s just not there yet. I am pretty tech savvy and I can handle rooting and all the settings, but I shouldn’t HAVE to do that.
I’m very disappointed.
Some good comments but, in the end, who cares about any of these roll-outs? It’s not indicative of the quality of the product or the satisfaction the consumer receives from said products. Additionally, it may or may not have anything to do with the long-term success of each product.
Android FTW
“The iPhone has been destroyed by Android”
People actually think Android is a phone. Sad.
I love Verizon ^_^
I pre ordered my HTC Incredible 10 days before release and got it the day before the official release.
I hope the above video spells the end of iphone’s dominance. Leo Laporte said it best when he said “Its old technology.”
I pre ordered my Incredible 10 days prior to release date. Then I got it one day before release date.
I think Leo Laporte said it best when he said
“The iPhone is old technology.”
Everyone ordered online, nobody wants to stand in cold weather. This article is pointless.
@Dan “and you guys call iphone users fanboys, hypocrits”
It’s pretty rare for Android websites to comment on stuff like this, go and get a reality check by reading Apple Insider, the biggest circlejerk on the internet.
It woulda been funny as shit if at the end of thw video, the person holding the cam put up the Android doll hahahaa
this article is pointless, this is an android site
@Nick When has anything stopped iFans, seriously. AT&T sold almost the same amount of preorders for the iPhone 4 in June and there was still a ton of people who were waiting in line of the first few days. http://www.technewsdaily.com/iphone-4-sells-out-on-first-day-of-preorders-0708/
Hmm sorry for the double post – I got some weird logon popup.
The Apple fanboyism is rampant here.
I am a lover of everything, I have an ipad, I have an HTC Incredible.
I think Android is better than IOS – no question.
Funny to see, but I’m just going to assume that less people drove all the way to the Mall of America, to an Apple store, to purchase an Iphone. At the verizon store that I was at, thirty miles from the Mall of America, there was a long line of about 40 people, and ten employees to take care of us. It took me no more than three minutes to get in and out of the store with an Iphone.
Why would you go to the Apple store when there are two verizon stores per city. At least where I live.
Lol! Only on a backwards thinking fandroid site could people declare the Verizon iPhone launch a failure…..never mind that it only took TWO HOURS for the iPhone to eclipse every Android phone as the MOST SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH in Verizon wireless history!! But what are we talking about here?? A YEAR OLD phone with a BAD ANTENNA and it still had enough juice left in it to outdo every BRAND NEW(not year old) Android phone ever launched on the carrier….oh and it wasn’t launched on the warm summer but in the DEAD OF WINTER!! you fandroids are mentally challenged….
Well, it was 20 degrees F outside of most places in American during launch day….. In case you are wondering, yes, it 20 degrees F is cold.
That was downright embarrassing. Seriously, standing ovation for TWO people? I would have had to walk by like I found the wrong store instead of walking into that place with 20 Verizon employees waiting to greet me! Sad, really f’n sad.
“Yay someone showed up yay” *clap clap*
Not that it showes the for certain decline of iOS it was still hilarious. It will be interesting to see the iPhone 5 launch. I was also at Verizon day one of the OG Droid, and there were about 5 people in the store. I did snag the last car dock, but there were plenty of Droids left.
My bad….I meant Apple employees…not Verizon.
Still disgraceful, but funny at the same time.
Verizon is and always will be an ANDROID based carrier.
Andy FTW!!
@Jeff, post 32
.
If you had issues like that with the Droid X, it was a defective phone.
.
The only reason I have a Droid X is because it was a better phone than my Droid one. Phone….just the phone features alone made me keep it.
@iKing
.
So you do admit it has a bad antenna? I dont think anyone who pre ordered cares or even knows..
.
Why? Its the iPhone….
you know the difference between iphone fanboys and android fanboys, android fanboys tend to be smart and iphone fanboys can be pretty much anybody with the phone even if they dont know how to use it
There is a very simple explanation. AT&T customers who buy iphones the first day they are available, all upgrade on the same day. Customers who want a Verizon iPhone have to wait for their contracts to expire so Verizon iPhone sales will be spread out.
@ jroc:
Yeah it’s not a good antenna….have no problem admitting that. I just find it amazing/amusing that iPhone hatred/envy is sooooo thick on this blog that fandroids would actually try to turn the most successful phone launch in Verizon history (their words, not mine) into a failure….wow
What’s funny is that everyone in my workplace who has Verizon, which is all but myself and a friend (TMO users) have bought Droid, Droid 2, Droid X or Droid Incredible’s in the last month. Hell, the boss just had a Droid 2 delivered to him not an hour ago. Sure the iPhone is popular but if anyone thought it would tip the scale because it launched on VZ they are out of their minds. I expect to hear it sold a lot when official numbers get released though but as far as I can tell it wasn’t a sell out.
Why does an android site keep posting shit about apple… i don’t get it.
The day i got my dx the line was just like this without crashing the vzw with all the preorders… such a bunch of haters
Verizon iPhone – 500,000 sold in the first two HOURS.
Last Verizon record – Droid’s 200,000 in the first WEEK.
Evo 4G – 150,000 in the first WEEK.
AT&T iPhone – 1.5 MILLION sold in the first week.
And the new model is coming out in a few months, yet they still smashed the verizon android record. If this is an complete and utter failure, the android phones would need to sell three times their amount in less time to even get to this point.
I get it…..its called envy.
What is stupid is ifags coming here reading shit then saying its fanboyism..or why is an android site writing about apple launch its pathetic..no you guys are pathetic at wasting your time knowing ya don’t like this or that but doing it anyways and talk shit about it…and the writer is not an idoit just cuz he doesn’t know if it waspre ordered…I swear most of you guys are apple fanboys talking shit on an android site…
Wow I’m shocked! I figured it would be half of a crowd when it was on att. Im android all the way but respect the ip4!

Oh please. You’re completely drinking the kool-aid, and obviously the type of person who believes any marketing/propaganda thrown at them.
Droid and Droid X, as well as the DINC both had very successful launches. Were the preorders 100,000 above any of these launches? Maybe. But you DON’T KNOW. The number could just has to be 500 more than any of the previous launches for Verizon to be able to say “Most successful launch”.
I love that ‘most successful launch’ as far as online pre-ordering was the start of the apple/verizon propaganda machine, but then it went “pppppppffffffffllllllttttt” so much like a deflating balloon on the actual day-of release.
What this points to ladies and gentleman, is that mass craving for the iphone is not as strong as it once was with the general population.
General population = non-tech savvy consumers who could care less about 3G/4G/O/S, O/S upgrades etc.
This tells us A L O T. Further, if the pre-ordering online was so successful, and was limited to existing Verizon customers, I’m guessing that this answers just how many people were waiting for so long on the iPhone coming to Verizon. About as many people as pre-ordered it online, and as many as didn’t show up to buy it on launch day. Duh.
Is the iphone a cool device? Yep. Is it the most versatile, most far-reaching, most capable of unique variations? Nope.
In borrowing a line from a song, “phones can go out of fashion”. Tech can go out of fasion. Trends (you guessed it) go out of fashion.
The iphone will be relegated to a niche market. That’s why even though the Ford Mustang has lasted decades, not everyone drives one, and they only represent a fraction of the market.
Duh.
And note, I’m getting a weird login popup also. But if you press cancel the post still goes through. Just need to refresh to see it. (I recommend copying your text before refreshing also)
This has more to do with th stupidity of Verizon then it does the lack of interest in apple products… I’m not saying that I’m for apples success but at the same time its only fair to say that this was a fail on verizons part and not apple… regardless it doesn’t matter because Android is going to end out on top

How was this Verizon’s fault?
I would laugh if at least one of those two people had no intentions of buying an iPhone on Verizon.
Also, people should stop knocking on the iPhone. While I have Android and love it and would NEVER buy an iPhone, Apple really makes their iOS smooth and flawless. I respect them for that. They actually make sure their products work before making them available to the public. Also, they only release one iPhone a year, and their updates can generally be applied to an iPhone that is two years old, so they make it that the phones don’t get outdated every few months and that you don’t need to break a contract to get the newest features.
I still think Android is more fun to use, though, and definitely more customizable. Plus, the developer options are seemingly endless unless you have something by Motorola. The only problem I have is that the phones get outdated WAY too quickly, but I feel that’ll change soon if the Android OS slows down in version releases.
I was in a VZW Corp Store today, they had ip4’s, while there was no lines, I did see 3-4 people causally buying them. I honestly think most people are waiting for the ip5, nor do I think you will see the moronic long lines of geeks waiting for them as it the past. But I do say it will sell very well. I won’t wait on line for any phone, Android, iOS, whatever. Its just not that important to me, I’d just wait a few days, order online, wait for fullfillment if they run out, whatever. I happen to own both Android and iP4, and like both. I am not a fanboi of either device, and if something came out better, I’d just get that.
And I’m on this website trying to convince myself that android is not bad and worth a shot. But then there are so many crazy fantasies going around here it make me think the android fans are more delusional than anybody else. Read my stats above! They show the phone leaves all you guys in the dust.
Don’t forget it’s 20+ experienced phone manufacturers, with 50+ models, on all the networks with android, versus One manufacturer’s 4th model on one bad network, and it’s about tie for users. Also consider all the free androids being offered, that’s nothing to brag about.
Last Verizon record – Droid’s 200,000 in the first WEEK.
Evo 4G – 150,000 in the first WEEK.
Verizon iPhone – 500,000 sold in the first two HOURS.
AT&T iPhone – 1.5 MILLION sold in the first week.
Please phandroids, grow a brain and learn some math before comparing.
I think with the preorders and this not being a new phone will explain the short lines. Most ppl that bought ip4 on launch last year were existing iphone users. Most VZW users might be eligible for an upgrade yet. If VZW gets ip5 the same time as at&t then you could expect different results.
There weren’t long lines because everyone who wanted an iPhone preordered from either Verizon or apple. Also, I know no one who would stand a line in cold temperatures for a stupid phone. Maybe hard core fanbois.
@Eileen_Ulik
Go troll somewhere else.
@ destardi:
You’ve only proven what a buffoon you are. Spin it whatever way you want….but most successful means just that….MOST SUCCESSFUL. Whether its by 500 or by 500,000, it still means what it means. And you’re conveniently forgetting, and I’ll keep saying until it sinks into your droid-induced brain, that this is a NEARLY YEAR OLD PHONE…..not a brand new, never been seen before release, but a phone thats ancient by Android standards…..you can’t show me a BRAND NEW Android phone that generated these kinds of initial sales figures, let alone one that’s almost a year old. What it demonstrates, quite to the contrary of your faulty droid-logic, is that people love the iPhone so much that they are willing to pay for a nearly year old phone WHEN THEY KNOW A BRAND NEW MODEL is mere months away. Idiot……Duh
@68.iKing – Exactly.
This is only the beginning.
There was two different preorders as well.. On Feb 3rd for VZW cust only and then another started on 2/9 for everyone;it didnt matter if you had VZW service or a brand new customer. Then on 2/10 they had them in stores. Maybe people are getting smarter and just ordering them online instead of waiting outside a door in some places, in the freezing cold, just to get a phone.
I needed a new phone in October and was thoroughly tired of the WM 6.5 Omnia II which I though was a great phone until Skype and other stuff (facebook app, etc) just quit working properly and not supported. When I went to the Verizon store all I got was a ‘just wait till you see the new stuff’ kind of attituide. I waited another couple weeks and followed the incessant denial by Verizon that they are not getting the iPhone and finally decided that I would have an new phone before heading home for the holidays and purchased a Droid X. Verizon can’t expect to have people beating down at their door for the iPhone after they marketed the hell out of the Androids over the holidays and it really pisses me off that right up until the day it was announced, they still denied having the iPhone. I’m in a two year (18 months left) contract with a phone that does everything the iPhone does (except control my Onkyo amp). Catch you at iPhone 5 or 6 Verizon! There too expensive and just not worth that much to me to get out of my existing ‘Driod phone

Look at all those people waiting in the ropes they set up previously…….look! Use your imagination;)
@Paul – go drink some more android robot nuclear semen. You wank off (with tweezers) to r2d2.
What close-minded people like Eileen-Buttlik don’t understand is that the Android phones were all sellouts that limited the sales results. The Evo was a sellout for at least a good 6 months…
I have an Iphone through AT&T and love it. The applications are easy to install and some are free. The TV Everywhere with DISH Network is one of the applications I love with my Iphone. It allows me to take my phone with me anywhere and have access to my TV and recordings. I work for DISH and have there HD free for life so I am still able to enjoy the HD on my Iphone. The kids love it when they get bored at the stores I just pull out my phone and they are happy.
I went to my VZ store today to ask about the iphone. The sales person told me to wait for the Thunderbolt. It would be out before the end of the month and he said it would be a much better phone. He said the iphone 5 would not have 4g. Interesting!

The reason the mall is dead is because it just opened obviously the mall is dead but there should of been a larger number and phandroid should def report this since everyone was talking about how this will effect android and the droid series but I guess vzw customers are just smarter than the att customers

I hate fanboys on both sides. iPhone fans likely have iphones, which means theyre still under contract, and switching providers isnt worth paying the ETF.
Be rational, folks.
Im pretty sure people that have actual brains in their heads and were already Vz customers know that they only get one more upgrade and I wouldn’t waste it on the iPhone 4 when the next iPhone is due in June.
The best part of the video is the end, where they show the big empty turn-style.
Alot of people may have ordered online. Also consider people dont want an outdated Iphone4 when 5 is due soon. I suspect when a more current modle becomes available it will do better
LMFAO!!!!! Gotta love it… With Android OS and now Nokia’s Partnership with Microsoft’s Win7/WinX OS, Apple has NOOOOOOO chance!!! “The Apple Iphone… the next Palm Centro!”
LMFAO!!!!!!!!
Lol all of these iphone crazies are pathetic on here. No matter how many times you post on here, it won’t make your crappy phone any better. Your product is a failure. Go read the market share charts and cry yourself to sleep
Droid Master is an idiot. I just don’t see how you explain the numbers.
Last Verizon record – Droid’s 200,000 in the first WEEK.
Evo 4G – 150,000 in the first WEEK.
Verizon iPhone – 500,000 sold in the first two HOURS.
AT&T iPhone – 1.5 MILLION sold in the first week.
Why are so many android fans are so delusional?
@ Droid Master:
I’ll bet u look as stupid as u sound….
LOL HILARIOUS!!!!
Here’s the deal. This is at the apple store at the Mall of America.
First, as someone who lives a 7-10 minute drive from MOA, the mall just plain sucks. I realize it’s a tourist attraction, but it’s filled with hoodrats and is a royal PITA to get in and out of. It would be much more convenient to just go the a VZW store….there’s one in just about every suburb around here.
Second, if someone were a big enough apple fanboy to go to the Apple Store at MOA instead of a VZW store, then they already have an iPhone on AT&T.
I currently own a HTC Incredible, but would consider switching to an iPhone. Even if I were eligible for an upgrade now, I would wait until the summer to see what Apple releases in the way of a new model iPhone. I suspect many others are doing the same thing.
The iphone may have sold out in two hours, but android sales in the US and world wide are still surpassing iphone sales. As far as I know the US was the only nation with an iphone exclusivity clause. someone correct me if I’m wrong on anything I said.
To all Iphone fans that aren’t ignorant and can have a real conversation consider the fact that even though the Iphone sold out in 2 hours at VZW, Iphone sales in the US and worldwide have been surpassed by Android. Also the US was the only country with Iphone exclusivity with one carrier so that doesn’t explain why Android was and is beating the Iphone outside the US. Both phones have their strong points. I however prefer Android. To each his own, and both will only push innovation further.
Let me know if this sounds ignorant since I’d prefer to just talk turkey, but Isn’t the iphone on just one wireless carrier out of 5 in the us, and not subsidized in a lot of other wireless carriers outside the US? I mean technically people in europe can buy an iphone for any carrier but only one offers a $400 dollar subsidized price. So it doesn’t seem like a fair playing field wireless network wise. Also it’s 20+ phone makers that are barely catching up with one apple. And how many free android offers are out there? It doesn’t seem like anybody in android is pulling it’s own weight like apple does.
@Eileen:
The US was the only country to have the Iphone tied to one carrier, but you could buy it unlocked for Tmobile. You’re right about the one Apple phone selling millions of units compared to lots of different Androids. But that a benefit of Android is that there are more to choose from. You can get a high powered Android at an expensive price or go cheap (freely offered) and still get a good experience. With the Iphone the only differences between phones are whether you get it with 16GB or 32. Android offers choice in form factors. Iphone offers choice in storage space and not much else. Apple has had a head start and truthfully if there weren’t variations of Android phones, one Android phone might never outsell the Iphone. But that’s not the current landscape. The fact is Android is still outselling the Iphone in the US and worldwide.

I’m happy you can spell ‘buffoon’, but the GENERAL CONSUMER has no clue when the next iphone will drop.
Your logic is acting as if those 500,000 (suuure) people that Eileen nutter keeps spouting about are such fanatics that *they* do not know there is a new iphone coming out in June. You’re contradicting yourself.
Android based phones outsell iphone globally. Fact.
How’d that 10 billion dollar drop in Apple stock work for you?

Eileen, and iKing…really people?
Are you telling me that Apple kept their holiday workers and froze employee vacation time from 2/5-2/18 because they expected slow sales?????
Are you telling me that Verizon actually opened at 7:00 am across the country, with some setting up ropes to direct the throngs both Apple and Verizon obviously were planning to show up?
Are you telling me that you, Eileen, and you iKing are smarter than 2 successful companies’ business analysts?????
Who’s the buffoon here, iKing..and Eileen? It’s certainly not me, iphone lovers. Keep lying to yourselves.
well so much for verizon iphone.
MOST SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH IN VERIZON WIRELESS HISTORY WAS DONE BY AN EIGHT MONTH OLD PHONE WITH A SUSPECT ANTENNA IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER WITH A BRAND NEW IPHONE ONLY A FEW MONTHS AWAY…..chew on that!!! Lol
Are you serious? This article is a joke. Of course there’s no lines, it’s not a NEW iPhone model launch. it’s just available on a different carrier. To say iPhone has been killed by android is just ignorant. When the 5th gen launches in June/July we’ll see about the lines. Dumbass
Lol…what a bunch of losers..if I worked at that store I would have asked my boss to leave when I saw only 2 people in line…2nd if he told me no I have to stay I would have definitely not clapped like a bunch of retards for two lonely ass customers!
First thing I did was bust out laughing….i don’t know about the rest of you but that was hilarious.
@ #57.scott, If iPhone and Apple is truly all that, why do you care what a Android site posts about iPhone?
@Paul, post #66
.
I would take a look thru here:
.
http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=109
.
And see if you still think iOS really is a flawless as you think….
.
I think the biggest myths about the iPhone is that it “just works” and “its so easy to use.” It isnt. Read around the web about folks with children younger than 10 y.o. having trouble using an iPhone after months playing with an Android or Win Mo phone. My 2 kids (girl 11, boy 7)are included.
.
They knew about and knew how to work Android before even knowing the iPhone existed. (They didnt know about the iPhone until this year)
.
Its like any smart phone. The ease of use arguments is like with desktops. Spend years using Windows and try to use a OS X the next day. It will be a learning curve.
.
Whats funny….after using a Win Mo smart phone….Android wasnt hard to use at all. The iPhone? I had trouble exiting apps…I was looking for an app drawer, I had trouble getting into the settigs..
.
And its supposed to be so easy to use…
iSheep gloat about the long lines Apple draws on release day unless they don’t draw long lines. Then long lines mean nothing. It’s a 6 month old phone. Why the hell would anybody want this? No lines doesn’t Apple won’t continue to sell big numbers. But I hope it is an indication that the general public is getting smarter about buying outdated phones. Wait for the iPhone 5 people. Then you can all stand in really really long lines and pretend to be important.
This is funny and all but icalled Verizon about my phones and after everything was all dandy, I asked the rep how the iphone was selling and he told me fast and better than any phone they ever sold…so I’m not so sure about the Verizon ifail theory…
It’s simple. Nobody has an upgrade left to get an iPhone. Everyone has used their discounted upgrade on Android phones.
what the hell is up with all these itrolls? what the hell do u care what an android site about your precious phone. we could give a flying fuck about what your isites say so go troll elsewhere
@ Stocklone:
MOST SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH IN VERIZON WIRELESS HISTORY….there’s nothing to pretend about that…..unless you’re an Android pretending to be an iPhone
what the fuck is up with all the itrolls? what the hell do you care what an android site has to say about your precious phone? is your fanboydom so deep you feel the need to go trolling android blogs? you’re iblogs talk more than their fare share of shit on android. go bash over there
Developers are always looking for ways to get their apps reviewed. This great site has paid apps for free but only for a limited time. They usually revert back to paid apps within 24 hours so it’s best to check back twice a day.
The website is: http://www.appiology.com
iQueen – What you don’t understand, is that Apple produced more units of this phone than any other phone Verizon has ever sold. HTC, Motorola.. When they have released new devices, they’re just that, NEW. They haven’t had the advantage of recycling a device.. So when they launch a phone, pre sales can’t reach those insane numbers. However demand for these devices does not cease for at least 10 WEEKS. Ask around at retailers who sell the Evo.. It was nearly impossible to buy for at least three months. iOS has its place, and so did communism.
Wow all these iPhone fanboys need to power-wash the sand out of their vaginas. The fact that they linger around here trolling speaks volumes about Android’s might. All I see them spouting is “Best launch in history” blah blah blah. It’s all blah till we hear the actual numbers. The evidence as it is playing out say they overestimated the demand for the iCrap plain and simple. There is real competition now more than ever and things aren’t going to be as easy as they were for crApple.
And here comes the end to verizon as we know it!
Verizon customers unlike AT&T customers have a good mix of top quality phones, which gives them a little bit more sophistication and what us grown ups like to call CHOICE. With new Android dual core/LTE phones around the corner and Iphone5 around the block, why accept whatever they feel like throwing at us and hold the ground and demand the quality product at a quality price. I personally am not interested in the Iphone, but my next Android phone will meet certain specs before I am willing to spend money on it, it will not be because it is some phone that was released just so the vendors can squeak a couple of dollars out of their production.

Hey buffoon…I see you skipped my logical post to which there is no answer, because the answer makes you wrong, so you go directly for ‘shouting’ a ridiculous line.
Good job!
/just kidding. You fail.
@ John:
Uh, exactly why do we have to see the “actual” numbers??? I don’t care if it’s the most successful launch by only 1 phone…..it does not change the fact that a 9 month old phone had a bigger debut that every brand new, never been seen before Android phone that has ever been released on Verizon Wireless….and it took only 2 hours to do it. Try and wiggle out of that all you want to, but when you’re done that FACT will keep staring you in the face….
@ destardi:
Uh, excuse me? What “logic”??? There’s nothing in your lame post that addresses the fact that a 9 month old phone had a bigger debut than every Android phone that has ever been released on Verizon Wireless…..as many as 500,000 in 2 HOURS http://www.technewsworld.com/story/71846.html?wlc=1297522192
So until u find a way to wiggle out of that, there’s nothing in your lame post that bears responding to….(yawn)
@Eileen_Ulik
Lol go back to your corner of the internet and leave us all alone here. Kthxbai =]
@post #110 Brad
.
lol…I hope you meant that as sarcasm…and if you mean the end of Verizon or the end of Android on Verizon….yea cuz Android died a big death on AT&T too huh…
.
Oh wait….
R2d2 metal cock smoker Destardi I didn’t say that I know how to schedule people for work at apple stores better stupid, I just said compared to other android phones on verizon this ‘complete and utter failure’ more than doubled the records of all androids so far. This phone is almost a year OLD now don’t forget, and it more than doubled droid’s NEW phone record.
-Droid X came out last summer just like the iphone and now it’s free with a 25 dollar rebate. That’s your “high end” phone compared to this equally old phone breaking android initial release records.
-And how much crapware comes with all your ‘free’ and ‘open’ phones? The verizon iPhone is the ONLY phone on their network with no crapware. Hint, just like low end laptops that crapware makers subsidize (which then slows down your computer), so too your phone was also infested with crapware that they make difficult to remove.
-AND FYI I can sell my 4 month old iphone 4 for $510 dollars which makes switching to verizon completely free. AT&T just gave all it’s iphone users 1000 free rollover minutes, verizon has a limited data special for iphone users, they also are offering 250 for my iphone 4. My iphone is 4 month old for when I bought it, so I wasn’t going to get the iphone 5 this summer anyways. I just wait 4 more months than I was anyways so it’s not a big difference. It’s not a bad deal once you get on the train to keep going, there is always somebody out to pay for you old iphone, my old 3g 8gb iphone can still sell for what a brand new 3gS sells for. It’s a valued piece of hardware. Sellers and buyers give us better deals than android users in the long run come selling time.
-Go back to robot cock gobbling while ignoring stats which specifically disprove every last one of your arguments.
-And why do android phans telling the debaters to leave here? That means you want to read delusional articles downing apple but not really consider what it means. That’s what dumb people do, avoid consideration fyi.
@ Eileen_Ulik:
Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! Free Droid X’s with a $25 rebate!!!! Freakin HILARIOUS!!! That’s how you get those marketshare numbers up…..GIVE AWAY (supposed) HIGH END DROIDS!!!!! You know how much a Droid “Incredible” will cost you??? That’s right, $0!!!! No wonder Android is “winning” the marketshare battle!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for posting this!
Main stream media and Apple media is still making it sound like a successful launch.
I’ve done my own checks of area Apple and Verizon stores. One thing for sure, Apple and Verizon were expecting MUCH bigger crowds. That tells me that it was clearly NOT the successful launch they were expecting. And not my a small margin. By a HUGE margin.
My local Apple store was similar. Every employee was told to work that day. Reservations told to wait until noon. Dividers for lines were set up.
Almost no one showed up. Employees bored all morning. When I showed up mid day, no one was looking at iPhones though some were being bought. Store was still crowded with people looking at Macbook Airs, iPads etc. But not the Verizon iPhone.

…if it wasn’t for Apple, Android would have just been a robot in a movie…
-You get numbers by selling it for less than they wanted dummy. That doesn’t give the people who stock motorola phones or motorola more money. Motorola would have preferred to sell the phones for 200 dollars, but it’s such an unpopular product they have to pay peope to take it off the shelves. Even the 3GS is selling for 50 bucks. Motorola and the wireless network put it up at 200 dollars at the launch, they didn’t plan on making this a low end phone. That proves that if they could sell it for 200 they would, but they can’t, they can’t even sell it for $0 they have to pay you to please take his waste of space in our stock room.
And ‘winning market the share’? 20+ experienced phone manufacturers, with 50+ models, on all the networks with android, (versus) One manufacturer’s 4th model on one bad network, and it’s about tie for users. Also consider all the free androids being offered, that’s nothing to brag about. The companies aren’t making anything if they sell them for free, and the 20+ companies all have to share that pool of android users. It seems like a big flop. You barely got blackberry numbers (another 1 company matching sales of 20+ android companies), and you only replaced symbian. Symbian had all the super low end phones (it’s really open source and they don’t take demographics data from your personal info like google does). Android was not trying to replace symbian right? I thought you were about to take out apple, you clearly have not come close.
-I love how android or droid as to pay george lucas to use the android robot name and pics, why not just make a name for yourselves on your own? Why not just call it google, that seems like a famous enough trademark? Why, beacause they are pandering to star wars fans, not all but the type of stars wars fans that buy anything with a star wars logo.
Whats up with all these iPhone articles? If you want to talk about the iPhone, you should be a site just for that.
@ Eileen_Ulik:
LOL! My post was dripping with sarcasm….i’m on your side! I’m making fun of the fact that in order to push their marketshare past Apple, they have to give away phones! LOL! Can you ever imagine Apple allowing iPhones to be given away??? Hilarious!!!
I love when phandroid posts iPhone news, not because of the actual post but all the comments left after are hilarious.
Regarding the 10bil dollar drop in Apple stock? You do realize that over the past week Apple’s share price has increased 8 dollars per share from Monday the 7th to Friday the 11th.

I’d love to see the numbers because that would give a better indication of how bad the iPhone is losing traction which will mean Apple will no longer enjoy the profit level they’ve been enjoying which would in turn have negative implications on their stock price and their over all health – WHICH WOULD MAKE ME EVEN HAPPIER!!
Apple NEEDS to stay ahead and sell more phones or else they’ll get relegated to ‘just another smartphone manufacturer’. Yeah they’ll still stay afloat on the backs of their drones but we won’t be subjected to the
suckass media (like CNN / zdnet etc) advertising their mediocre garbage all over web 24/7.
As for the other Android companies – they’re surviving just fine. Yeah they have competition amongst themselves but they’re making a profit and BETTER PHONES – which is good for everyone including the Apple drones who bend over for their puppet master Steve Blow-Jobs. Competition is good – something the iPhone doesn’t have within its own sphere meaning if you want a phone with IOS there is only ONE choice as opposed to Android. And that my friend, is the ONLY reason the iPhone outsells any ONE Android phone. If there were multiple phones from different manufacturers running IOS, they iPhone numbers would be NO WHERE near as big.
But does it matter? No because Android will continue to evolve and eventually dominate ACROSS THE BOARD.
Haters gonna hate guys. Keep feeding the trolls, and they’ll keep spamming us about how terrible Android is and how we’re all losers and so on.
Just ignore them, really.
I loved my Iphone until I found ANDROID.
Next.
Android FTW!!
@ John:
See, this is the sheer stupidity of the Fandroid logic:
the most successful launch in the history of Verizon Wireless, a launch that saw a 9 MONTH OLD PHONE outsell every BRAND NEW DROID PHONE that has ever debuted on the carrier, is an example of how the iPhone is LOSING traction…..Seriously, if all of you Fandroids are going to share the same brain, can you please get one that works???
No, the reason why the iPhone outsells any one Android phone is because whenever you put an iPhone next to one of those plasticky, brand x-looking POS then the choice is obvious. The only way that Android can claim any kind of “victory” is to take the cumulative sales of about 100+ handsets and pit them against ONE PHONE. And even with such an overwhelming advantage, they have only been able to manage a 3.7% lead in marketshare. Add the fact that this “lead” is greatly enhanced by free phone giveaways and buy-one-get-one-free deals, and you can clearly see that Fandroids really don’t have much to crow about.
Evo: “I’m not man enough to take on the iPhone by myself; i’ve got to go get 100 of my brothers to in order to barely eek out a win…..ready fellas???? Let’s go!!!!”
How pathetic……
Opposite of a failure. good job of Verizon not making the same AT&T launch mistake..
http://www.pcworld.com/article/219491/dont_by_fooled_by_lackluster_verizon_iphone_lines.html?tk=rss_news
FYI The verizon iphone has a backed up delivery wait until february 18th on apple online and also verizon online too. As long as you bring up apple, might as well give you info that is directly related to the article. We already doubled the initial launch android first Week record in two Hours with a year old phone, I wonder by how much more we are going to beat you after a week. I will be adding to that number too, if I sell my iphone to ebay for $510 I can pay off my contract ending fees with at&t and end up with 50 bucks cash to keep. Try to stop wanking to r2d2 for just long enough to read some real facts, not selective twisted facts on this website.
@iKing
I see Steve Blow-Jobs has trained you well. You continue to demonstrate the typical Apple drone mentality: Anything with a nice outer casing and an Apple logo MUST be better. So what does Jobs do? He takes the cheapest POS hardware made in China by Foxconn, pretty it up, stick an Apple logo on it, then sell it for way more than it’s worth. And you and Eileen slobber all over it. Years ago when I didn’t know any better, I gave a 3g an honest try out and the best part of owning it was selling it on Ebay. It was the WORST most unreliable phone I ever owned.
Android was NOTHING a few years ago. It ranked lower than ms mobile and pretty much shared the spot with webOS. Now look at it. When the Droid catapulted Android into the mainstream there was NO buy one get one free deals as of yet. Also the Droid, Droid X, Incredible, EVO all suffered shortages. People had to wait for weeks even months for some of these phones so we really don’t know how many would have sold had there been enough to go around.
Deny it all you want, but the iPhone IS losing traction slowly but surely. Considering the amount of customers on Verizon, the hype, the ads, the suckass media advertisements, and the fact that AT&T has a horrible rep, the Verizon stores should have been packed to capacity and the lines should have been much longer.
You cannot compare apple and orange. iPhone and Droid run on different OS and Hardware. I like Apple and I also like Orange. However, I don’t want to carry both phones with me, so I pick one that suites my need. Bottom line, STFU.
Verizon no longer allows early upgrade. No one is going to pay retail for a dated phone with a dated os.
144th person to comment! :D
iKing yes we know that there are still a lot of people who want an iPhone just because it is shiny. Until Android OEM’s decide to put more emphasis on style, there will always be a place for Apple.

Best post in the article…lol.
@ John:
You continue to sidestep and ignore facts and quantifiable numbers and push your wishful thinking statements like “the iPhone is losing traction slowly but surely” without any hard data to back up your claim. I know that u are an Android fan and that you wish for the iPhone to go away, but what you wish for and what is undeniable fact are two completely different things. And this is the point that you keep conveniently ignoring that I keep making: if the iPhone is “losing traction” as you suggest, then how is it that a 9 MONTH OLD PHONE WITH A SUSPECT ANTENNA CAN HAVE THE SINGLE LARGEST SALES DEBUT (est 500k in two hours) OF ANY PHONE ON VERIZON WIRELESS???? A PHONE THAT OUTSOLD EVERY BRAND SPANKING NEW ANDROID???? CAN YOU PLEASE STOP AVOIDING THE ISSUE AND GIVE A LOGICAL EXPLANATION FOR THIS???? Thank u….
This iKing guy is obviously a douche. He has said the same thing like 18 times. This article is just about one store out of all of the thousands of Apple and Verizon stores across America. This is just a funny thing.
I bet that if that a Verizon store there was only two people in line for a Thundrbolt you’d be asking Steve Jobs to jack you off through FaceTime.Oh wait, you could only use that in a WiFi network.
@ ben:
You know WHY I keep saying the same thing??? It’s bcuz none of you fandroids have an answer!!! Give me a fact-based, opinion-free explanation for why a 9 MONTH OLD PHONE WITH A SUSPECT ANTENNA CAN OUTSELL IN 2 HOURS EVERY DROID PHONE EVER RELEASED ON VERIZON WIRELESS??? CAN U PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT BEN??? I won’t hold my breath…..
people, please stop feeding the iTrolls. you will never convince them of anything because of their apple bias. and to you itrolls, the opinions here are just as strong against apple, so just give it up
@iKing
9 month old really doesn’t matter – it’s the ONLY high-end phone they have to compete right now. Plus it’s the only one with a cdma antenna. And no one said there aren’t any Apple fans on Verizon. So If they want an iPhone, please tell me what other choices they have? Most are not going to go to At&t for it so what are they to do? Take a chance with the crappy model. Not hard to explain at all.
Iphone sales numbers will always be higher because there is only one iphone. proper comparison is between iphone and every single android model.

Scars-What about Blackberry? They are one company, RIM, and have several models, and they about match android’s and iphone’s number of customers. RIM pulls it’s own weight, Apple pulls it’s own weight, the 20+ android phone makers do not pull their own weight. All the 20+ android companies have to give phones away for free to each get a tiny piece of the customers that RIM and Apple have. It sounds like they Wish they could sell as much as RIM and Apple, but they have to give you rebates and money to take their phones (originally priced at $200 then lowered to -$25), and after all they they split the cheap customers.
The level of fanboyism here is ridiculous. You guys make rapid Apple fanatics look tame in comparison. Congratulations!
Also, I’ve just lost almost all respect for Phandroid as a source of tech journalism because of this story. This is an Android blog, so there shouldn’t be “HURRR iPHONE SUXS LOL” stories being posted.
http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/17300000/Obvious-troll-is-obvious-atsof-17301744-702-475.jpg
Lol.
And Android robot jiz guzzlers, RIM is a closed OS too. Yet Blackberries got Netflix (which android users have been begging for in huge numbers for a while now) before you. 20 + experienced phone maker companies all banding together barely just recently compete with RIM I customers and still don’t compare in quality/official apps, that’s pathetic Android! You have to be an andoird gay lemming to think that’s acceptable..
@ John:
Like hell it doesn’t matter. It makes no logical sense to lock into a 2 year deal with a 9 month old phone when a brand new model is just around the corner. But the allure of this phone is so strong that there they were, all 500,000 of them, bcuz they couldn’t wait to get their hands on the most coveted smartphone on planet earth. Losing traction?? You wish….regardless of your opinions or mine, the NUMBERS speak for themselves…..nuff said
iKing and Eileen_Ulik are probably the same person. They always post at the exact same times. Once again, obvious troll is obvious! Come on, guys, stop feeding “them”. Seriously. Letting the trolls get to you is how they win.
That’s usually what people resort to when they lack the intelligence to effectively counter your facts…..
@King
There is NO proof a brand new phone is just around the corner, just rumor and speculation. Besides, it’s a huge assumption to think the average Apple user is:
1. Logical
2. Well informed
The numbers speak for themselves? What numbers? We have yet to get the actual numbers. But even if they are 500k, my previous point still stands – Apple ony has ONE phone on Verizon and it was hyped up months in advance.
why dose this site even give pleasure to the iphone fan boys by posting this crap. who care about the iphone . if i did i would be on a site that caters to iphone users.Lets drop the immatureness and not stoop to the level of worthlessness . Post better threads and news that can inform me better not this crap.
idon’t care!! …its a iphone! And i want one!!…. Lol…iphone fanboys cracks me up everytime.. :)
