AT&T to Offer Unlimited Calling to any Mobile, Regardless of Carrier, Starting Tomorrow

47

Word’s got out that AT&T wants to pull a Sprint. That is, they want to offer a plan that will allow for unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling, regardless of the carrier affiliation of receiving phone. The plan should be rolling out tomorrow, when we will hopefully gain a few more details. What is known is that you will need to subscribe to a $20 unlimited texting plan to be eligible. Pricing on the actual unlimited any mobile calling is unknown.

  1. Loooooooosssssssseerrrrrrs. Come up with something original.

  2. LOL, how can you be like sprint if you have to subscribe to a certain plan to benefit?? HAHAHAHA sounds like the okie doke to me.

  3. Verizon started the same thing recently. It is good to see.

  4. Unlimited calling……that is if you can MAKE a call.

  5. It will be nice for those people that have the iPhone.

  6. if they want this to be successful, they’ll have to let this be for every plan, but with the $20 unlimited text.

i have a feeling it’s only going to be for the second and up tier plans, though, excluding something like the $39.99 plan for individual users.

  7. Sounds good but we all know thats not including text, internet, and mms.

  8. Wish had we had unlimited calling in Canada. We have crappy talk plans.

  9. @AndroidToy +1

  10. Wow…$20 for unlimited texting is a bit OVERPRICE isn’t it? O.o

  11. Think they meant unlimited data? (wishful thinking)

  12. @ace i sell vzw as part of my job with a (to remain nameless) major phone/internet service provider, and none of us here have heard of vzw pulling the sprint copycat free mobile to mobile regardless of carrier trick… and per vzw.com, their mobile to mobile is strictly when vzw phone is called. (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?&item=planFirst&action=viewPlanList&sortOption=priceSort&typeId=1&catId=323&sel=ind) and as it clearly states, and i quote “Verizon Wireless Mobile to Mobile Calling
If Caller ID is not present or Caller ID Block is initiated, Mobile to Mobile does not apply to incoming calls and will apply to outgoing calls only.” looks like vzw is still behind

  13. Boy Sprint has texting? They should come up with something original. AT&T was first with texting in the 1990s.

  14. @Snoop: Thanks. I just remember hearing a commercial on the radio of Verizon having something similar. Yeah, that service sucks.

  15. ASS t&t is nothing but a bunch of LOSSERS and copy cat’s… It won’t help them and there WORTHLESS SERVICE ANYWAY… SPRINT WILL ALWAYS RULE… A NETWORK WITH NO DROPPED CALLS… PERFECT 3G SERVICE… AND AWESOME 4G SERVICE.. PLUS THE BEST ANDROID LINEUP PERIOD.. THE NOW NETWORK

  16. All these anti att idiots on here make me laugh

  17. Yeah nothing like consecutive quarters of losing more customers than you are adding even with dirt cheap plans and counting reseller prepaid in your adds.

  18. @Richard: Everyone’s going to have a different opinion on their current cell carrier. I do have AT&T, with 5 lines, 2 unlimited data plans, and 1 unlimited texting plan. I have no issues with reception in my area, and actually enjoy AT&T’s service. I’m glad my account will be eligible for this when, and if it happens. Also, once AT&T releases the Samsung Infuse and the HTC Inspire, Sprint’s Evo will be left in the dust.

  19. We need to start seeing TRUE unlimited plans. Unlimited everything @ $80/mo per line or less

  20. James you seem to be ignorant because even you know that by the time those phones are released the next gen EVO will be released and those phones won’t even be a thought. Please act as if you understand how carriers operate.

  21. @James,

those phones you listed will be mediocre at best in comparison to the Atrix 4G, which will be the real killer phone for ATT. dual-core is the future. no more of that single core stuff.

  22. Great! Novel approach AT&T. How about now you update your phones, or phone rather.

  23. @swazedahustla

and Evo2 won’t compare to the Atrix 4G. Qualcomm is behind with their CPU chips. they’ll always be in last place unfortunately.

the QSD8x72 chip will be their answer to the Tegra 2, TI OMAP4-series and Samsung’s Orion platform. this chip isn’t expected until Q3 at the earliest. so again, if HTC sticks with Qualcomm chips, the competition will always be ahead.

  24. Actually their answer will be MSM8x60 which will be able to compete (in terms of productivity, maybe not gaming but gaming is for losers and children). HTC is still the best in terms of updates, build quality, UI, modding-ability. HTC is the only manufacturer who got Android right.

  25. @danboy

WTF are you talking about?? You are assuming you know something about what will even be in the phone, when you have no clue, so to even ASSume makes you look like <——-. So no use speculating what will/will not be in a phone until its actually rumored/leaked/whatever it is they do to get the word out.

  26. Bring back unlimited data!

  27. LOL these comments are hilarious.

  28. Its so weird how everyone bashes att but I have no problem whatsoever with my service. I live in the midwest and Ive been all over the US and still have had no problems. Sprint, Verizon, and Tmobile service is horrible around here. Im pretty sure that in large cities and other areas thir service is good but not here. IF THERE WAS A PERFECT CELLULAR NETWORK THEN THERE WOULD ONLY BE ONE!

  29. Now all they need is a network to make the calls

  30. Sprint’s deal at 69.99 is hard to beat from a price point. I don’t think AT&T is gone have their plan go under 69.99.

  31. Funny that some of yall say AT&T services sucks…..while I may have to switch to them or Sprint from Verizon….for better service.
    .
Its depends on where you live. Every carrier has bad reception areas…even Verizon.

  32. I have co workers that have phones on each major carrier where I live/work. And Sprint and AT&T are it.

  33. AT&T SUCKS AND WILL ALWAYS SUCK…BUT ONE THING THEY DONT SUCK AT! SCREWING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WITH THE NETWORK THAT LIES ABOUT THE COVERAGE…AMAZING HOW THEY GET AWAY WITH IT. I GUESS OBAMA CAN GET AWAY WITH IT SO CAN AT&T. PEOPLE ARE SO DAMN STUPID……

  34. This is pretty nice. Hopefully this forces Sprint to offer even more for less! ;)

  35. To add to my first post, it would be great to see Sprint add rollover. That would make me happy as can be. I don’t really tun low on minutes now, but the extra padding sure would be nice for those off months where I might need to make a ton of landline calls during the day.

  36. @Jerry: I like how you say “people are so damn stupid” and then act as if AT&T sucks everywhere in the nation. For many of us (myself, included), it is by far and away the best coverage. It depends on coverage. You are one of the “so damn stupid” people if you do not think that this is true.

  37. Paying for text or texted packages when you already pay for data needs to go away. I know Sprint does not do this but the other big 3 need to stop this monthly azz f’ing.

  38. Unlimited calling….?? Who gives a shit about unlimited calling? How about UNLIMITED DATA???? That’s what people what. Man, the suits at AT&T just aren’t getting the clues. Between this and the laptop dock pricing these idiots just keep dropping the ball.

  39. Coverage means that if you get lost in the middle of nowhere when you are on vacation, you can still make a call and/or use the web to figure out what to do next. If you don’t plan on going anywhere for the next 2 years, then AT&T is great!

  40. and let the competition begin, customer! us win.

  41. @James… You have to be KIDDING ME… The INFUSE and INSPIRE.. ”WHAT IS THAT”??? THOSE LOCKED DOWN DEVICES… Come join a REAL CARRIER THAT ALLOWS DEVICES TO OPERATE AS THE MANUFACTURER INTENDED… ASS T&T WILL NEVER ALLOW THAT… OH YEAH ‘ ‘ ‘ CAPS ANYONE… TAKE THOSE 2 PHONES AND JUMP IN THE LAKE

  42. AT&t JUST GIVE US OUR UNLIMITED DATA PACKAGE. WHO gives a damn bout unlimited calling. JUST GIVE IT BACK AND YOUR CONSUMERS INCLUDING MYSELF WILL STAY ON YOUR NETWORK.

  43. Copycat service plan from Verizon arriving in 3…2…

  44. great offer for unlimited calling, but here must be any kind of regulation..

  45. I have have Sprint and have upgraded to the EVO a couple of months agao and everything has been great, reception, quailty, proformance. I have friends who are on AT&T with Iphones and after I have showed them my EVO and my unlimited data pricing I pay at Sprint, they are looking forward to dumping AT&T and coming over to Sprint.

  46. It’s so funny that I see so many comments about people switching over to ATT because they aren’t offering a totally unlimited plan or that this plan came to late – I have to agree. I left ATT three years ago not only because there was no unlimited option, but moreso because the bills just kept escalating and there was no real reason beyond some small overages. I’m glad that I didn’t wait for options like this and I just went over to a prepaid company that offered me unlimited service on all fronts at about less than half the price. At first, the change of networks from ATT to Verizon I thought would make a huge difference – not really to me, but I do miss the customer service. If ATT had thought ahead and really considered plans out there like the $45 unlimited plan I currently have, I think they wouldn’t be loosing customers all the time.

  47. OK, this serves me well. I was calling AT&T to increase my company’s calling pool and eliminate overages. Instead, I switched FOR FREE from my old unlimited txt messaging to this with unlimited txt plus calling to any carrier. Now I can probably consider REDUCING my pool next month.

By the way, I hung up and called Verizon and they verified they do not have any thing to compare with calling any mobile on any provider.
