Verizon’s published a video to their DroidLanding Twitter account of the first Droid X – designate #4 – being picked up by Francis Choung at a NYC Pier. As the rules stated, you don’t actually find a Droid X, but a voucher for the device. Thankfully, it looks like Verizon and Motorola reps will be on hand to greet you upon finding it as they pony up the device that was promised to you.
Has anyone else made an effort to go out and look for one of these? If you’ve been taking down Verizon’s clues and were able to get a general idea of the area one of the devices might be in, then you might want to set up camp in the vicinity as Verizon’s not holding back on tweeting out exact GPS coordinates for each of the devices. The contest culminates this Wednesday.
I’ll use the GPS on my Evo 4G to find that bad boy…..wait, nvm. I have an Evo 4G…..duh.
haha thats so cool
I have to admit this is a pretty cool way to generate some publicity.
Ill use the GPS on my Nexus One (2.2) to find that bad boy…. wait, nvm. I have a Nexus One…… duh.
I was literally two feet from the thing at the Chicago site, but I didn’t think to look up into a little crevice to find it. I wanted to kick myself when I saw someone else snag it.
Oh well. I was holding out for the Droid 2 anyways. Wonder if they’ll have a scavenger hunt for that too.
Unfortunately I didn’t make it in time…. just a few min short. DAMN traffic on Lake Shore Drive. I do have one complaint… the coordinates were OFF… no where near where the phone was.. SOB!!

Sheer genius!!!
haha. It’s actually a cool event. I just found the one in Washington, DC. They interviewed me once, asked me to sign a bunch of stuff to use me in commercials etc, then they interviewed other people and let them play with a display device. Afterwards they came back to me and interviewed me a second time, and then took my picture in front of Ben’s Chili Bowl.
The people who didn’t get phone didn’t all go away empty handed too. They gave away some $20 gift cards (that don’t expire) to Big Red stores.
All in all it was a fun little thing, and the phone cost me a $10 cab ride from the National Mall :)
PS – Some of the first pictures taken with the phone on the way home.
I apologize to the one squirrel’s picture that I covered the lens with my finger. My bad squirrel…my bad…
