By I’m not sure if it’s just bad wording, an ill-informed designer, or truth, but according to Verizon’s official site for the Motorola Droid X that’s just gone live, it’ll be coming with a 4.3-inch 720p screen. I can’t speak on the accuracy of that having never used the phone personally, but the videos we’ve seen courtesy of Engadget didn’t show any resolution that we haven’t already seen on an Android handset, to date.
Enough of all that, though, the Droid X site is live! This feels just like the time leading up to the HTC Droid Incredible’s revelation (except without all of the hair-pulling, teeth-gnashing, and everlasting anxiety). Sign-up to be notified about more details now, and expect this thing to land faster than you can say DROOOOOOOOOIID… ok not that fast.

Is it just me or is Verizon the only one that actually employs PROFESSIONAL advertising people? I’m sure tmobile, sprint and at&t probably think it’s a coincidence that verizon has the best marketing and are number one in the cell phone business. When are the other 3 going to realize that you have to build the hype and let it simmer for a few weeks before really start giving all the specifics. Verizon has totally owned advertising when it comes to the droid line. I know people who own the droid, droid eris, or droid incredible and can’t tell u which phone they have exactly. They just say they ..”have a droid phone…u know the one on tv.” Tmobile tries to build anticipation with there we’ve got something big coming approach….too bad what they have coming is always a big disappointment. “Circle the date, Circle the date….we’re giving all phones away for free!!!!” Free RAZR’s for the whole family…wooooowhooooo!!!! That bottom bezzel is way to big. There is no reason the phone should be that much larger than the EVO. The bottom should be where the word Verizon is.

This phone is exactly what I’ve wanted since the Droid came out… same phone / vibe, but with a much bigger screen and no keyboard. Bravo Motorola!
720p is likely just what it can output over HDMI.
Might get it, not sure….the only thing verizons droid line is missing is a similar phone but with a keyboard. I wanna see a 4.3 inch screen with a keyboard! I know a lot of people who would buy it lol

The Droid 2 looks to be 3.7″ right? The Galaxy Pro (sprint) will have a physical keyboard and I believe it’s 4″
Screw the Droid! Where the hell is Verizon iPhone we have been promised for over 4 years! Sounds to me like just another case of marketing/advertising people not being tech savvy enough. They probably just accidentally said the screen is 720p instead of the camera resolution.
Unfortunately it’s not a 720p screen, just the same 854×480 as the Droid.
Great looking phone though! It’s large, but I’d rather take that than small.

tommy dont know where you get your info in all the varied links and articles and rumors nothing has ever said verzon was getti g the iphone its all been speculated and with jobs being so touchy about his product stipulations and what he would allow verizon was supposed to get it orriginally but apple had to many stipulations. Droid rules coverage is much better on verizon. Funny how the iphone4 and new os seem to have taken off of droid and evo capabilities like the evo front facing camera and droid running multiple apps. I know multiple people on att iphone its win or lose on service and support. So get over the iphone and appreciate verizon and all the great droids here and to come. Also in the recent conf did you here anything on jobs saying the iphone would go to other carriers nope because att a 5yr deal with apple
Unless I’m late, and they already updated the site. It does not say 4.3″ 720p display. It says 4.3″ screen, captures 720p. Which would be as we have been told, a 4.3″ screen with a camera that’s capable of capturing 720p film.

I’m sure it has 854×480 screen resolution and 720 dpi PIXEL DENSITY which translates into 240 ppi (dpi=dots per inch – counts subpixels, ppi=pixels per inch).

They have now changed it from “720p screen” to “captures 720p.” I’m wondering now if the 720p screen comment was trying to mean that the HDMI output is limited at 720p…

Too bad I’m stuck with crappy AT&T and their shitty iPhone. AT&T makes their money off iPhone. They could care less bout ANDROID all their ANDROID hard ware are cheap built looking not sweet sexy looking like the DROIDS on Verizon. Verizon don’t even need iPhone or care bout it.
