Earlier, it was believed that the T-Mobile Garminfone would be $199.99 and headed to their stores sometime in June. Today, Engadget’s tipster sent in a pretty convincing shot of a pricing and features overview that states the phone will be available on June 2nd.
For those that can’t remember, this thing sports Android 1.6, has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 3-megapixel camera, and features the custom navigation-centric interface that Garmin-ASUS introduced. I’m sure this will find its way into the hands of several navigation buffs when the time comes in early June.
I would think that a $199 phone back on Android 1.6 will be DOA given that the Incredible is the same price, has Android 2.1 soon getting bumped to 2.2 and has Google Navigation.
I just can’t think of any reason why anyone would want this at this price point.
not me.
I agree with JB, but I’d be willing to bet the specs are off base. Androids are developing too fast to release such a sub-par phone, especially now that the competition between carriers is getting so hot. Looks extremely ergonomic though, and a touchpad instead of a roller ball, nice.
Looks okay.
Maybe it will get an upgrade to 2.2.
