Verizon Wireless continues to follow up with customers via E-Mail to ensure Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris owners are getting their all out of the device. They have already sent several E-Mails with application recommendations and they’ve just sent their latest – Droid Does Sports.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ —Game-winning plays don’t just happen on the field. With applications available in the Android Market™, every fan gets the chance to be a star. Verizon Wireless customers with DROID by Motorola can choose from a variety of sports-themed apps featured in the Verizon Channel in the Android Market to get them in the game for events happening this month.

This week, customers can check out:

  • NFL Super Bowl Showdown Theme – With the Big Game this weekend, customers can get ready for the showdown between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts. Get in the spirit for $3.99 with the only Android theme officially licensed by the National Football League.
  • Vancouver 2010™ – Official Mobile Game – Customers can embrace the spirit of the Vancouver Olympics with this thrilling game packed with five electrifying sport events, including snowboard cross. Customers can play solo or against friends for $5.99.

Three questions for Phandroid readers:

  1. What are your favorite sports apps?
  2. What apps will you be using tomorrow during the SuperBowl?
  3. New Orleans Saints or Indianapolis Colts

  1. Funny, I was just searching for this and found the PERFECT Super Bowl party game… it’s like the Hasbro Catchphrase game, but waaaaayyyy better. The word list appears to be all current super bowl stuff too.

PhoneFraze University ($1.49) + PhoneFraze ProFootball Pack (free) = AMAZING WAY TO SHOW OFF YOUR DROID AT THE PARTY

I can’t wait to play this with my friends tomorrow and show off my new rooted/overclocked phone to all those Iphone usersm!

  2. Number 2 is a dumb question. What App will I be using tomorrow? If this is a question directed toward people watching the Super Bowl then why would anybody look at their phone and not watch Drew Brees piece apart Bethea, Freeney (Maybe if he plays) and Hayden and dont forget Mathis. The Who DAT nation overcomes Mannings Mayhem and the Saints with power of Bush, Thomas a couple of INTS from Harper and Sharper and a couple of sick catched by Colston, Meachem and Henderson and the Saints win SUper Bowl 44 37 31

  3. The only sports app that I find myself consistently using is SportsTap. Unfortunately, I haven’t been guided to anything that I like better.

It’s doubtful I’ll use an app for the Super Bowl. There’s so much overload of information during the game that I’ll get everything I need from the broadcast and/or on of the loudmouthed know-it-alls from the Super Bowl party that I’ll be attending. I’m sure that after the game I’ll be pulling up the commercials on the youtube adblitz using my Droid.

Finally – Gimme dem Saints! Who Dat?

  4. Right now, the only one I seem to use every day is SportsTap. But I do want to give a mention to the devs that created Bowl Games for the College Bowl Series. During that period, I found myself going to that very often for all the current and past information. It really helped create Droid envy for my friends.

  5. Ironically, as a paid app, the Vancouver 2010 game is unavailable in Canada :P

  6. Also, as I Giants fan, I’m pulling for Eli’s brother. Beyond that, I really think that we’re watching what will come to be known as the greatest QB to ever play the game. The only area in which he’s lacking is SB rings. I think he adds another jewel to the crown tomorrow.

  7. @David

Actually I can see people using the last app while the super bowl is on (at least during down periods during the game)

and the first one is just a theme so you can have it set while you are at or watching the game and some fool calls you during that time you would technologically be using the app.

  8. 1. Sportstap
    2. Videocam
    3. GO COLTS
