8

Many months ago there was a mysterious Android MID that popped up at Pocketables – that was back in August.

On September 25th it was unveiled as the Ramos W7 MID at a press event in Shenzhen, China and PCPOP (translated) was able to capture some of the action:

We also got our first taste of specs:

  • Rockchip RK2808 chipset
  • 600MHz processor
  • 4.8″ capacitive touchscreen
  • WiFi connectivity
  • 780p support
  • MKV, AVI, RMVB formats
  • 2 mm thick at its thinnest point
  • 10 mm thick at its thickest point
  • 8 GB and 16 GB versions
  • Retail for around $191 and $235 (depending on version)

It has been quite awhile since we’ve heard anything at all about the device, let’s see – 1, 2, 3 months – but we finally have some news. And it’s kind of disappointing – the Ramos W7, which seems to be nicknamed Blue Magic, will only be running Android 1.5. This is according to Chinese Forum iMP3.net (translated), who also snagged a bunch of pictures at the Beijing event:

  1. Nice looking tablet. I’d buy it if it were Android 1.6/2.0. I like all these tablets/MIDs from Dell, Archos, Camangi hitting the market before Apple’s rumored tablet. Now if they only had the marketing.

  2. YAY! Thats awesome! Hopefully it’ll come with android market and come to the US if so I’ll definitley buy it :)

  3. I likey! I don’t care what it runs cause if you read the version it runs it seems to be a modded version which means if you have any skills at all you could easily port atleast1.6 upto 2.0 on it I for one am buying this thing and root a toot tootin it into a baby beast tablet

  4. If this things supports mkv’s with subtitles, I’d get it instantly.

  5. Also hdmi out would be a nice feature.

  6. Wait, what? Did one of those spec slides say “Adobe Flash”?
