Blue Magic: Ramos W7 Android MID Event & Details

Many months ago there was a mysterious Android MID that popped up at Pocketables – that was back in August.

On September 25th it was unveiled as the Ramos W7 MID at a press event in Shenzhen, China and PCPOP (translated) was able to capture some of the action:

We also got our first taste of specs:

  • Rockchip RK2808 chipset
  • 600MHz processor
  • 4.8″ capacitive touchscreen
  • WiFi connectivity
  • 780p support
  • MKV, AVI, RMVB formats
  • 2 mm thick at its thinnest point
  • 10 mm thick at its thickest point
  • 8 GB and 16 GB versions
  • Retail for around $191 and $235 (depending on version)

It has been quite awhile since we’ve heard anything at all about the device, let’s see – 1, 2, 3 months – but we finally have some news. And it’s kind of disappointing – the Ramos W7, which seems to be nicknamed Blue Magic, will only be running Android 1.5. This is according to Chinese Forum (translated), who also snagged a bunch of pictures at the Beijing event:

We’ll keep you posted as more details arrive… you know, definite price, areas of availability, upgrades to 1.6/2.0 – those types of things. You likey?

  1. Nice looking tablet. I’d buy it if it were Android 1.6/2.0. I like all these tablets/MIDs from Dell, Archos, Camangi hitting the market before Apple’s rumored tablet. Now if they only had the marketing.
