HTC Droid Eris Specs Found!

I'm an Android and Tech lover, but first and foremost I consider myself a creative thinker and entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for ideas of all sizes. I'm a sports lover who cheers for the Orange (College), Ravens (NFL), (Orioles), and Yankees (long story). I live in Baltimore and wear it on my sleeve, with an Under Armour logo. I also love traveling... where do you want to go?

  1. So… it’s basically a HTC Hero?

  2. Those specs seem similar to the htc hero

  3. Christ. When are HTC going to get around to releasing a bloody phone worth buying? I’ll get the droid if I have to but I’d rather wait for a real phone from HTC. The trouble is they keep releasing crap like this. Give me something with some grunt for god sake!

  4. yes indeed!

  5. the reason is that your us-carriers are messing around witch the phones. The HTC hero in europe just looks like the Htc hero there are only different colours available.
Some CEO doesn’t like the chin of the Hero so its gotta go…

  6. Mono audio out?

  7. Ah… speakerphone I see. Sorry

  8. htc is releasing crap you say??? take a look at samsung…

  9. @john
they are not just releasing crap, they also do not support their crap: no android 1.6 for the Galaxy!
Thats why I never care for Samsung phones they just release them and if there are Softwareissues, they just put out another crappy phone.
Htc on the other Hand don’t need to upgrade to android 1.6 because with having the Sense UI you can give a shit on 1.6. There I said it.
And please do not blame HTC for the Droid Eris thats Verzons fault they WANT that phone.

  10. We want Passion info!!

  11. Android phones without a chin suck!
At least the Droids got one of his own!

  12. The Eris and Hero are good phones for the non geek crowd. Sense UI is very intuitive, and great for those who are in search of their first smartphone. That being said, when the Passion comes out, I will finally get to upgrade. The Eris for the wife and something with the snapdragon for me.

  13. Does anyone know whether the Eris will get the same ROM update as the Hero?

Because, if Eris and Hero are as good as equal, I fear the Eris will have the same laggy feel to it as the Hero.

And what about updating to Android 2.0, like it was announced for Hero owners?

  14. the eris is gonna sell very well. it’s a good looking, snappy, inexpensive phone. thats what most consumers want. sales will be very up to par with the motorola droid.

  15. @cnstntn

Hero doesnt lag, that was the OLD ROM. Many sites have reported that the Eris feels snappier than the Sprint Hero. So i wouldnt worry about it. it should be plenty capable, until you load up the memory

  16. The European Hero chin is the single worst design element in any consumer electronics product ever. Yeah… I said it. It looks like a flip phone, always flipped open. If it were a car, it’d be uglier than the Honda Cube. Best thing to ever happen to it was coming to the US for a redesign.

  17. If they release 2.0 for the Eris when I am able to upgrade, I’m getting the Eris. If not, I’ll get the Moto Droid. I gotta have the Google Navigation app.

  18. The phone will update to 2.0. HTC said (according to gizmodo) they will update when they have some bugs worked out with the Sense UI and 2.0. Which means all “hero”-esque phones will probably get the update around the same time.

This is one of the downsides I see to the UI forks, slower update rates.

  19. I wish the hero on sprint came w/ a 8gb card instead of only 2.

  20. Doh! The Eris has a smaller battery than the Hero on Sprint. :-)

  21. I see that the battery is smaller than the Sprint version. What is that going to do to the usable battery life? If Sprint users are having issues, this will be even worse.

  22. Christ Almighty! So Verizon gets the passion as well, while TMobile sticks its suckers, I mean “customers” with the MyTouch as its F*****G “FLAGSHIP PHONE”? What did I do to deserve this? Ive never hurt anybody why in the world did I get duped into being a TMobile customer? Why should I be punished for being an original Android lover, hooking up with T’Horrible’ for their G1? And to think I used to go to church…

  23. heh davis, I take it you don’t get 3g anywhere you go? the mt3g isn’t bad with a custom rom running, if you’re a true android fan you wouldnt dream of using the phone any other way. Im well satisfied with the mytouch, Im not sure why so many hate it. I guess id rather have the droid or even the eros except I know verizon will gimp the life out of it with vcast and all their other proprietary garbage.
