Another HTC Android Captured On Cam

20

Another pretty hot looking Android handset has slipped through the cracks and appeared at TheUnlockr though no details were included:

htc-dragon-maybe

htc-dragon-maybe2

htc-dragon-maybe3

The time and the part after “Welcome to” were blocked out to avoid the tipster from being identified – just a safety precaution. The only information we know about this phone is what we can see: large touchscreen, optical trackpad, camera with flash and obviously made by HTC. Some people are saying this could be the HTC Dragon but I don’t see anything beyond plain speculation that points to this… I’m not saying it ISN’T just saying that it seems to be a guess and nothing more.

Add another phone to the Android domination queue.

  1. I think you guys are having problems with your images. I’ve noticed this on a few posts within the last few days.

  2. posts on the first page do not work, nor do these.

    hopefully things will resolve soon.

    thanks phandroid!!!

  3. yeah for the past week none of the images work?

  4. very nice, i like the thin bezel. if the hardware is similar to the acer liquid they are onto something. the liquid i feel has a bit too much wasted space. i prefer this design.

  5. it has been a week with problem with pictures. I cant see any!!!

    Hope you will solve soon.
Cool website besides that, I check it out every day!

  6. Yep, I thought it was just in my RSS feed, but no pictures come up anywhere.

  7. Hey guys. I’m not sure what the deal is with the images. Initially we thought this was because the web serving was split on 2 boxes while we waited for the new dedicated web server. We have that up and running now so you would THINK that new posts would have no problems with these broken images.

Can you verify this is happening on new posts? If you have any info to help us diagnose/address the problem please email me. My first name at the website name dot com.

Thanks folks, much appreciated and apologies for the delay.

  8. This screen seems large… could there be a powerful dragonesque processor in that beast ?
Too bad it doesn’t have a real keyboard !
    .
Notice the search button: another google experience phone. How come motorola and htc aren’t pushing motoblur and sense user interfaces anymore ?

    @ rob
i visit from europe and i can see your images since your new server arrived. Great effort ! Have you changed your host too ?

  9. Images are working for me, weren’t before. Cheers!

  10. This phone looks pretty decent. Thus far the best looking HTC Android device I’ve seen.

@Vincent: I dont expect to see Sense and Motoblur on every HTC and Moto device. For one, their interfaces are a matter of preferance, more so Blur than Sense. All that Social Networking integration isn’t really necessary and wont appeal to everyone. Either way, I hope they offer it as an optional download or something somehow. I dont really care about the look of Sense but I love some of the Widgets.

  11. The site is randomly posting the pics. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they don’t (just refreshed, and they’re gone again). Are you sure there’s only one web server serving up the pages right now? It still appears to be acting like it’s switching between two different servers, one with the pics, one without.

  12. Rob,

Your problem is that the posting software (wordpress), tries to resolve image URLs like http://phandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/htc-dragon-maybe-550×733.jpg to posts. If I paste this into a new tab I get a webpage, saying “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.”, rather than an image or 404. So the browser doesn’t get an image from and displays a broken link. Probably some sort of URL misconfig.

  13. Corrections: I meant “probably wordpress” and “the browser doesn’t get an image from <img src=…>”.

  14. Great looking phone, hopefully all these great phones dont get released together at the same time or they might affect the sales of each other.

Anyway, regarding the images not loading, like i posted in another thread, the images are loading at work but they don’t back at my house.

  15. The icons for search, home, back and menu look incredibly similar to those on the stood…

  16. I’m sure that says “Welcome To Verizon”. Could this be the Verizon version of the HTC Hero?

  17. Visually, it looks like a 854×480 screen, because of the size of the screen and the relatively small UI elements. Since we don’t know about any other HTC Android phones that have this, this should be the HTC Dragon.

  18. No no no…it says ‘Welcome to Orange’ – it’s a UK phone, hey it’s about as likely as Verizon! ;-p

  19. Images work fine for me.

I think the phone looks boring as heck. Also: Trackpad? Looks like a trackball to me… but the buttons seem touch senstitive. That’s ok I guess. I still like funkier designs more.
