The HTC Hero has finally landed on the Orange UK website but sports an unfortunate “Coming Soon” for those wishing to pin down a price, launch date or even Pre-Order. We saw the HTC Hero hit Amazon yesterday and there is little doubt that T-Mobile UK will announce the Hero as the G1 Touch in the near future.
And some of the glorious Hero specs:
- 5-megapixel camera
- 3.2 inch touch screen
- MP3 player
- Bluetooth®
- Music Player
- microSD external memory
- TFT touch screen
- touch screen
- multi-touch input
- handwriting recognition
- trackball
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- vibrating alert
- speakerphone
- polyphonic ring tones
- video playback
- HSDPA, 7.2Mbps
- WiFi 802.11 b/g
- Java™ capable
- GPS
- GPRS
- USB compatible
- Autofocus
5MP and 3.5mm headset jack is just… so yummy.Engadget has been directly in touch with Orange who are confirming that:
- It will be free with some service plans (as we previously reported)
- A price will should come by tomorrow

Damn… too bad i can’t get HTC Sense on my g1
talked to support on tmobile website and they said the phone will be with then on the 6th
Graphite looks interesting… Looks more like a dying lilac color to me though. Any ideas when we might see a smart phone with wifi 802.11 b/g AND n?
Any guess as to what the price plan will be like? I am guessing 40 pounds a month, but I really want it to be 35 …
hmm… still no prices on UK site…
Orange will do the phone for free on a £39.15 a month tarrif. Includes 1200 mins, unlimited texts, and mobile browsing (how much im unsure of) and recon release is due for early july :D
Any idea how much Orange will customise the phone with their own bloatware rubbish?
They won’t customise it with their bloatware as they can’t for a change :)
I heard that the phone would only be available for free on a 24month contract. Has anyone else heard that.
I got an HTC Hero from fones4u, 24 month contract with Orange and 18 month upgrade option; 1200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet access ( ie 1 gig a month, which should be enough for mosr folks) at £35 per month.
Also, just upgraded to the latest ROM build, woohoo…much faster, easy as pee. Using Win 7.
I love this phone !!!
This phone is ace. . . .
i am sooooooo getting it!!!
