New 6G test reveals insanely fast transfer speeds

0

The 5G connectivity standard is still somewhat in its infancy stages. There are still many devices out there that do not support 5G, and there are also many countries around the world where 5G isn’t as readily available yet. But the development of 6G has already begun, and here are the speeds we can expect.

According to a joint statement released by a consortium in Japan, they have built the world’s first high-speed 6G wireless device. Based on their initial tests, they found that they could transfer data at a staggering 100Gbps! For context, this is 20 times faster compared to what 5G is offering.

Unfortunately, development of 6G is still in its early stages so don’t get too excited yet. The test also shows that range is still a limiting factor as they only managed to achieve these speeds at a distance of 328 feet. Companies like LG have been testing 6G themselves and managed to reach a range of 320 meters.

This is still far too short to be considered useful for mobile data. However, the super fast speeds could be used for other purposes other than mobile, so that’s something to consider. That being said, we’re not sure if having such fast speeds really matters. 4G is already plenty fast for most people. Having faster theoretical speeds sounds good on paper. But unless you’re planning on downloading massive amounts of data, chances are most people won’t notice it in day-to-day usage.
