Xiaomi has finally started rolling out an update to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for the Mi 4. They wisely decided to skip 6.0 and go straight to 6.0.1, which should make this update worth the wait. The latest build is MMB29M. This update also brings MIUI (Xiaomi’s custom Android skin) up to version 7.

A few of the changes in this update include universal support for the immersive status bar, new options for USB connections, pictures and videos save faster, and color reproduction has been improved. Xiaomi also says the phone won’t get quite as hot when charging, and battery life in general has been slightly improved. Everything else is what you’d expect from MIUI 7.

Speaking of which, Xiaomi released a detailed look at the new features in MIUI 7. Other than the aforementioned changes, the package installer UI has been cleaned up, the menu for uploading files is now closer to what you’d find in stock Android, and of course the new Marshmallow permissions are present. Overall, it’s a very nice update from Xiaomi.
