Motorola officially took the wraps off their 2015 lineup earlier this week when they announced not two, but three new devices launching this year: the Motorola Moto X Style (Pure Edition in the US), Motorola Moto X Play, and the Motorola Moto G 2015. While the X Play was the only model not coming to the US, that might not be the whole story.
Earlier this week @evleaks revealed the name of a Motorola DROID Maxx II and Motorola DROID Turbo 2, while HelloMotoHK has been going on about something they’re calling a “DROID 2015” (new photos posted above). Going by the latest leak, the back of this DROID 2015 looks nearly identical to the Moto X Play, only this will apparently come equipped with wireless charging inside. Given the Moto X Play already comes with a beefy 3,650mAh battery, it sounds like it could be a good fit for a Maxx sequel, but it’s going to need a hardware bump (higher res display, more RAM, better processor) to be worthy of the Turbo 2 title.

Whether this newly leaked back with wireless charging is the DROID Maxx 2 or DROID Turbo 2 is anyone’s guess (they could, in fact, be the same thing). Remember, even though last year’s Motorola DROID Turbo was a Verizon Wireless exclusive, it also launched outside the US as the Motorola Moto Maxx. See where we’re going with this? If these names games have you confused, we understand. Motorola is making it a little hard to keep up.
