Gold Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are so popular, supply is almost completely exhausted

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge DSC08444

We took a look at every single color option of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge back during Mobile World Congress. While not normally partial to gold color options when it comes to our smartphones, we have to admit, the Gold Platinum Samsung Galaxy S6 looked surprisingly classy. Turns out, many of you felt the same way.

Samsung sent out a press release earlier today announcing that the gold version of their flagship device has been their most popular version, so much in fact that they’re having trouble keeping up with demand. According to Samsung, 1 out of every 4 Galaxy S6 colors sold is the gold version, creating shortages of the option in markets like Europe.

In fact, Samsung notes that stock in Europe has almost been completely exhausted and although they’ll soon be ramping up production to compensate, you may want to consider going with your second color pick if you had your heart set on the phone.

For anyone that recently picked up a Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge — which color did you get?

  1. Since you guys mentioned it, where the freak can I buy the Emerald Edge? lol

    1. Outside the country. It’s not in the U.S. Same one I wanted.

    2. Keep searching eBay for the G925F and G925i and you might get lucky. You also might end up paying a pretty penny. I keep searching for the regular S6 in blue topaz and they sell out every time the hit eBay. I was watching one from a Hong Kong seller that had 5. When I got to the auction, 2 were already sold with 3 left. The next day (today) they were all gone. $789.

  2. Stupid the blue and green isnt available in U.S. When sales slow down they will release them and people will again be excited about them, same goes for Iron Man themed one. Personally I am more hyped for S6 active with possible SD car slot and waterproofing. I sure as $hit will not be shelling out MSRP price for the s6’s. I would only consider getting regular s6 if it was on a steep discount, which I am sure will come in a few months.

  3. Where can I buy the gold one???

  4. Haha I got two gold S6 edge’s!!

  5. Guess there’s no accounting for people’s tastes, then. The gold is fugly.

  6. It hardly looks gold at all especially in the sunlight. It’s more like platinum white gold.

  7. Looks more like bronze than gold

  8. Hmmm

  9. Considering how limited the inventory is of Gold Platinum S6 I highly doubt 36% have it. I wasn’t willing to wait for it, so as of today May 7, I’ve had my white S6 for a full month.

  10. I got it in black, but two options are missing – silver (Europe limlited?) and Red/Gold a.k.a. Iron Man.

  11. RELEASE the green edge on contract already…ffs

    1. If they don’t by late May/early June in US I’m going to LG. It may be shallow, but that green will make me pull the trigger.

      1. I know how you feel but relax, if they don’t I just get the edge cheaper that’s all, the Black Blue is nice too looks classy but green is my first choice. We just need to make more noise about it, even an announcement or something, it could be they building stock they are already sold out most places. I can wait but doubt I’ll wait past July like yourself.

  12. Maybe now US carriers will *finally* release emerald green if gold is scarce. Crossing fingers, but I may soon settle for black. Getting way too impatient at this point.
