After you buy a new phone, such as the Nexus 6, there is an initial period of excitement. You’re setting everything up, trying out the new features, and enjoying the new device. But then the excitement wears off and it’s just a phone. You start to think “now what?” It’s time to deck out your Nexus 6 with the best accessories you can find. We’ll help you get started.

Best Nexus 6 Case

Barely There

diztronic

If you’re looking for a case that provides a little protection without bulking up an already giant phone we recomend the Diztronic Flexible TPU Case. It’s only 1.6mm thick, comes in three different colors, and only costs around $10.

Durable

supcase

For something more durable we like the Supcase Hybrid Bumper Case. Most people immediately go to Otterbox when they want a durable phone case, but they don’t make one for the Nexus 6, and even if they did it would be ridiculously expensive. The Supcase is only $13 and it has plenty of protection. For even more protection check out the $20 version.

Holster & Kickstand

caseformersThe Nexus 6 is a very big phone. For some people it’s uncomfortable to keep in their pocket. The size of the Nexus 6 also makes it perfect for watching videos. This is where a holster/kickstand case comes in handy. We like the CASEFORMERS Duo Armor Combo Case. It offers protection while including a holster to clip on your belt and a kickstand for watching videos.

Wallet

wallet

The Nexus 6 is going to occupy a lot of pocket space if you don’t use a holster. Why not make your case do double duty so you don’t have to carry even more stuff in your pockets? For a wallet case we like the Spigen Premium Wallet Case with stand. It has a nice leather feel, room for plenty of cards and cash, plus it has a built-in stand for watching videos.

Best Nexus 6 Chargers

The Nexus 6 is one of growing number of devices that support wireless charging. This allows you to charge the Nexus 6 by simple setting it on top of a charging pad. No cables or plugs to mess with. The Nexus 6 specifically supports Qi wireless charging. Here are a few of our favorite Qi-enabled chargers.

nexus charger

If you have a Nexus phone why not get the Nexus charger? This $49 charger made by Google is a bit on the small end which can make it difficult to find the right place to set your phone. Once you’ve got that figured out this is a very nice charger.

anker

On the cheap end of the spectrum is the Anker ultra-slim charger. Anker makes some of the best affordable tech products out there, and this charger is no different. The only complaint we have is the small LED light that can be annoying at night.

tylt

Now for the high-end of the spectrum. The TYLT Vu is beefy charger that also props up your phone while it charges. It can hold phones in portrait or landscape positions. It has a larger charging area so it’s easier to put your phone in the right spot. The Vu costs $70, but it’s worth it.

Best Nexus 6 Screen Protectors

The Nexus 6 display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It’s extremely durable all by itself, but if you’re worried about scratches or cracks you can use a screen protector. Most screen protectors are extremely cheap, which is good because you’ll ruin a few while trying to apply them. There are two main types of screen protectors: plastic and tempered glass. We’ve got a choice for both types.

spigen

For plastic we recommend the Spigen Crystal screen protectors. They are hard coated for scratch resistance and can be easily removed. For $10 you get three screen protectors.

skinomi

For tempered glass we like the Skinomi Tech Glass. The benefit of a tempered glass protector is it feels much nicer than plastic. You won’t notice there is anything on the display. Skinomi has also coated their protector with an oleophobic layer, which helps against fingerprints.

Best Nexus 6 Car Mount

The big display on the Nexus 6 makes it perfect to use as a turn-by-turn GPS machine in your car. Getting a car mount that’s big enough to hold the Nexus 6 is not easy. The good news is the iPhone 6 plus is just as giant, and many manufacturers have made car mounts for Apple’s phablet. They should all work with the Nexus 6.

car mount

Our favorite is the iOttie Easy View 2 Car & Desk Mount Holder. It can hold phones up to 3.5-inches in width, which just fits the Nexus 6. It uses a sticky gel pad and a suction cup to offer even more support for large phones like the Nexus 6. You can snag one of these mounts for only $15 and it comes in four colors.

Best Nexus 6 Headphones

The Nexus 6 has a 3.5mm headphones jack just like pretty much every phone on the market for the last 10 years. If you already own a pair of great headphones they will work just fine with the Nexus 6. If you don’t have any good headphones we have a couple suggestions.

headphones

We like the Brainwavz Delta with Mic. They’re great for all kinds of music and podcasts, come with three sizes of foam tips to match your ear size, include a mic for taking phone calls, and you can usually get them for around $20. A cheaper, but still great, option is the Panasonic RPTCM125A Headphones. They have comfortable ergo fit earbuds and only cost around $10.

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.

For better or worse, Sony is finally going to cut back on frequent smartphone releases

  1. I use the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro Series Case with the built in screen protector ripped out and a Tempered Glass Orzly screen protector. I am able to wirelessly charge phone with the case on using the TYLT Charger. And I use the belt clip holder that come with the Supcase, the case adds some bulk but is built to protect and does a great job.

  2. Accessories for a phone that’s barely available for the 32GB version and the 64GB version is a myth that no one has seen yet either on Motorola’s or Google’s site. Get serious…

    1. Ask @King_James_The_Wicked:disqus if the Nexus 6 is a myth.

    2. The 32GB version is pretty readily available and both devices take the same accessories… so…. yeah I don’t know what you expect aside from us buying the phone and sending you a free one.

    3. Didn’t know my 64gb N6 was a myth!!

    4. 32GB has been in stock for a while now on Play Store. Only reason I haven’t bought it is because I’m waiting for a 64GB version, which I agree is pretty difficult to come by…but definitely not a myth. You’re clearly not looking hard enough.

    5. I understand that the Play store’s ordering system is notoriously bad for new devices, but it’s hardly the only way to get this phone. I called a T-Mobile store shortly after they announced the sale of the device, and had mine before Thanksgiving with no rush and no drama. That’s hardly big foot or unicorn levels of mythology.

    6. Bought a 64 GB White on eBay for $730. Get serious…

    7. Huh? I’ve owned a 64gb Nexus 6 for 2 months, and I’ve owned a charger and 2 cases for it (2 of which are featured in this article) for even longer than that. No idea what you’re talking about.

    8. I bet you could derp even harder if you really tried…

  3. The Air Dock 2.0 has reached its funding on Indigogo, and will start shipping in the next couple of months. It’s going to be pricier than $15, but will have a model customized for the N6’s curved back, and will have built-in Qi charging and an NFC tag. Supposedly, they are getting the magnetic mount to work quite well for the N6 without the use of the magnetic sticker, as well.

  4. How well does that Skinomi Tech Glass fit? Does it cover the sensor or camera? Does it halo? Bubbles?

  5. No “Best” Nexus 6 case covers that dimple….I own and like the Spigen wallet case too…The Tylt charger is fantastic for charging the Nexus 6 wirelessly…BUT I also own the Nexus wireless charger featured in this article and it does NOT work with the Nexus 6.

  6. I’ve been trying since day one of owning my Nexus 6 – which has been for about three months now – and the Nexus Wireless Charger does not work with it. I’ve tried everything and came up craps every time.

  7. Love my Spigen crystal screen protector, Tylt VU wireless charger and my Spigen clear Nexus 6 Case!

  8. IMO, the best car mount is the Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount for Cell Phones. It looks like it has a larger turn axis than the one you’ve shown. In addition I find that the Kidigi desk mount charger works for me.I like that one so much that I got one for home and the office. I’m taking the rec for the glass screen protector though–Thanks

  9. pfft…those cases…*shudder*

Case: Spigen Slim: recesses the keys, edge protects glass, maintains the form/design of the device.

    Screen Protector – none.

  10. No complaints about my Ballistic Case for my Nexus 6 yet.

  11. I’d like to see that for the moto X?

  12. I’d love to find a slim fit case with a slightly flat back to it. I realize that is somewhat of a geometrical contradiction, it’ll certainly require some additional thickness off center to lay flat.

It would be nice to be able to type on the phone with it sitting flat on a desk, but I would settle for something that prevents it from spinning/sliding with even the slightest touch. I’m relatively happy with my current Spigen Ultra Hybrid case but for the fact that when sitting on a desk it has a desk-to-phone contact patch of less than a square centimeter.

  13. I will probably drop my phone before I decide on a case.

  14. VENTEV 2.1 amp charger. single or dual port, find them on EBAY 12 bucks.

  15. Nexus 6 bumper cas..great grip, slim and $10.

    1. holy crap thats ugly

  16. Zagg glass screen protector as well!!
