The Android Wear ecosystem continues to get great hardware. The latest smartwatch to join the team in the Play Store is the Asus ZenWatch. It is now listed in Google’s online store, but it’s not yet available. When it does become available it will cost $199. Last week the ZenWatch went on sale at Best Buy, but it’s out of stock right now. If you want a ZenWatch you’re out of luck.

Should you want the ZenWatch? It’s a beautiful square watch face. So far the best looking Android Wear devices have been round. For $100 less than the LG G Watch R you get a 1.63-inch 320×320 AMOLED display, Snapdragon 400 processor, IP55 water resistance, and a nice leather band. The bezel is kinda big, but otherwise it’s a very attractive Android Wear device.

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.

  1. I really like the look of the ZenWatch. For me, it’s either the Moto360 of the ZenWatch, just want to see what the ZenWatch battery life is like in really world use. I want something that looks stylish with a silver body, not something that looks like a rubber strap like my current Garmin Vivofit. I like that the Moto360 has the heartrate monitor always running, but the ZenWatch is cheaper and I think has better hardware, so gotta wait and see how things shake out.

    1. You have to admit that the square display makes more sense in the long run.

      1. Totally agree. And the way Asus shaped the watch, the square display looks great.

      1. I don’t care what it looks like on A wrist in a picture, I need to see what it looks like on MY wrist. It is large, but not thick like the Moto360, and I think thin would be better and more comfortable.

  2. I was thinking about this one based on price and shape. I’m now thinking none of these watches will look good on my girlish thin wrist.

  3. That actually looks classy. Hope the battery life is good.
