After news that HP has finally split its company up this morning, the company seems to have quietly placed a new tablet on sale through Amazon. It’s called the HP 10 Plus, and we’re a bit understanding of the fact that they didn’t give it much fanfare due to its following specs:

  • 10.1-inch 1080p display
  • 1GHz Allwinner processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB of internal storage
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 5 megapixel rear camera
  • 6 hours of battery life
  • 0.37 x 6.89 x 10.43 inches

The tablet does come in at a reasonable $280 to start, and we’re sure that price is going to come down over time. Not meant to be the most fabulous device in the world, but if Samsung and LG’s 10.1-inch affordable options aren’t working for you and you don’t mind an HP-made doohickey, this would be one to check out.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  2. Allwinner processor? Sounds like a Chinese knockoff

    1. Lol, that’s exactly my thoughts. Was like, “wtf?”

      1. Allwinner is down there with Rockchip so yeah it is a weak Chinese made SOC compared to the likes of Samsung, Qualcomm and NVIDIA

    2. I don’t know, my Magnetbox TV works just fine.

  3. Linking to WSJ? I see how it is.

  4. Jelly Bean? Fucking really?

  5. 4.2? Umm, wake me up when it receives 4.4

  6. Under specifications in one place it has: Operating system: Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. So maybe 4.2 is just a typo in the other specs? Releasing a new device with 4.2 at this point is just irresponsible.
Never heard of the processor, but it might turn out to be OK. All in all a pretty big gamble even if it’s only $280

  7. And you wonder why they make fun of androids fragmentation.

    1. And it’s not like Apple doesn’t.

      1. I don’t care about apple.I get tried of google getting bashed over oem releasing products with outdated android versions or not releasing updates

  8. No thanks. Just picked up a G Pad 10.1 for $211 at best buy. I’m extremely impressed with it.

    1. How’s you get it for that price? I was looking to pick one up but saw it for $249. Forget it, $249 yesteday when I was looking. $211 today.

      1. They just lowered the price like yesterday or something.

  9. Allwinner processor sounds like a total loss to me.

  10. It has 4.4 not 4.2.

    1. Hmmm listing said 4.2 in the specifications section, but features section says 4.4.2. Maybe a typo on their end. I’ll update.

  11. overpriced for what you’re getting, especially the poor battery life
