LG G Watch R Specs officially announced, coming in time for the holidays

Ever since LG announced their circular Android Wear smartwatch we’ve been dying to know more. Now we do. LG has announced a teaser to the device’s IFA debut, making clear some of the specs we’ve so desperately desired to see, officially announcing them before Motorola does so for the famed Moto 360. Here they are…

LG G Watch R Specs:

  • 1.3-inch P-OLED Display (320 x 320)
  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
  • 4GB Storage (eMMC)
  • 512MB RAM
  • 410mAh Battery
  • IP67 Certification
  • Sensors: 9-Axis (Gyro/ Accelerometer/ Compass), Barometer, PPG
  • Color: Black
  • Frame: stainless steel
  • Strap: 22mm calf skin leather strap

In their press release, LG makes sure to rub in the fact that its the, “first watch-style wearable device to feature a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display and utilizes 100 percent of its watch face.” That is, of course, a dig at the Moto 360 design that cuts off a small fraction of the screen.

If you’re looking to buy the LG G Watch R for the holidays – whether as a gift for someone else, gift for yourself, or sticking it on your list for Santa – you’re in luck: it’ll be available in Q4 in key markets. I’d anticipate key markets includes the US of A, other parts of North America, and most of Europe at a bare minimum.

Keep in mind that Android Wear is only compatible with Android 4.3 and above, so if your phone is outdated, you better upgrade that while you’re at it.

  1. Seems like LG is kinda rushing this for the sake of stealing some thunder from the 360, hopefully it will turn out to be a hit.

  2. The first thing I care about before I care about anything else is battery life.

  3. Very nice looking timepiece.

  4. incredibly tempting, but i think i’ll go with the Moto 360, reason being the screen size is a tad larger and Moto is good with battery life. LG, thanks for the option tho :)

  5. So it takes a baby cow* to deliver this watch?

Not a selling point for me.

    *Calf skin leather strap

    1. they don’t kill the calf for the leather but for the meat, the leather is a byproduct that IMHO should be used as well as to not waste any part of the animal.

      1. Bullshit, it goes both ways.

        1. +1
Calf skin strap is the opposite of a selling point for me. To be fair – I also don’t buy watches with straps made from the skin of human children either so it’s not like I’m biased.

          1. but you would wear one made from ADULT human skin? Whats the difference?

You too are sadly out of touch with reality. Try educating yourselves on market produce before making assumptions like the above 2.

But its whatever, I have no shame in wearing calf skin since I understand why and where it comes from.

          2. 1. The statement that I made is what’s called “Tongue in Cheek”
            2. The two (not too) of us are not out of touch with reality – I simply think that promoting the fact that the watch band is made from the skin of a baby cow is ridiculous…
            3. You’re correct – it is whatever. It’s an opinion – I stated that a “Calf skin strap is the opposite of a selling point for me” and you take issue with that for some reason. It really doesn’t have any impact on you, correct?

          3. nope, no impact on me lol…

However I was using “too” as a “you as well” statement not “the both of you” statement so my use of the word was correct :p

    2. Aren’t you the one that called the watch “vaporware” in the other LG G Watch thread? What is with all your threadcrapping?

    3. hmm I probably would be more likely to buy it if it came with a crispy fried and breaded veal cutlet and a slice of lemon.

  6. Wait, plastic? WTF?

    1. the screen, not the frame. The frame is stainless steel. The strap is made out of tasty meat (see below)

      1. Yeah, but plastic screen. Super easy to scratch.

  7. “utilizes 100 percent of its watch face.”
First let me say that I like the look of this watch. However, backhandedly criticizing Motorola for for tiny light sensor bezel and then including a much larger bezel that runs around your entire screen is just silly.
