Droid RAZR M to be rebranded as ‘Motorola Luge’ for Verizon prepaid 4G LTE

Moto-Luge-Verizon

Last night, TKTechNews reportedly got wind of a few leaked specs from a mysterious device calling itself the “Motorola Luge.” Said the be headed to Verizon Wireless under their prepaid service plans, the phone reportedly showed some specs that seemed all too similar to 2012’s Motorola Droid Razr M. In fact, the leaked images accompanying the specs showed just that — a Droid Razr M with a few updated icons.

Of course, this raised more than a few eyebrows from skeptics but today, a freshly leaked image seems to confirm TK’s previous information. Brought to us by the boys at PhoneArena, it appears the upcoming Motorola Luge could, in fact, be nothing more than a rebranded Droid M headed to Verizon prepaid. Showcasing support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, other specs include:

Motorola Luge

  • 4.3-inch qHD display (with Gorilla Glass)
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 1.5GHz dual-core
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal / micro SD expansion
  • 8MP camera
  • 2,000mAh battery
  • NFC
  • Android 4.4 KitKat

Off-contract pricing for the Motorola Luge is said to be $150 via a special online promo kicking off Thursday, August 28th. We expect will learn more about the device then along with the possibility of more rebranded devices to come. It’s interesting to see Motorola pitting the device against the already inexpensive Motorola Moto G, which in some cases bests the Motorola Luge (at least on paper). Which would you choose?

  1. Verizon is so weird.

  2. This is essentially a moto x, so how does the moto g best it?

  3. “Off-contract pricing for the Motorola Luge is said to be $150 off-contract…”

But is it off contract? :P

    1. Moto G on VZW is CDMA only and has no microSD slot. But the G has a bigger, much better screen, a much more modern SoC and, IMO, a nicer formfactor and will continue to be updated. The Razr M is pretty much EOL on 4.4.2 (there that’s not necessarily too bad of a place to be).

  4. nevermind.

  5. i’m curious with the 4g plan for $45, wheres the $40 per line charge they love so much!

  6. I shall call it…the moto lube…at least Verizon learned its customers prefer it than going in dry..

    1. *Insert buttsex innuendo here*

      1. That’s 3 right there

  7. “Luge” what a strange, strange name!

  8. Terrible name, but I’ve been a fan of this little RAZR.

  9. Yeah, the moto g is a better phone, but the Verizon Variant is 3G only, and being stuck on CDMA 3G all the time is a deal breaker
