Before the Sony Xperia Z1 was officially unveiled last week during IFA 2013, the device was the subject of numerous leaks and rumors, most of which turned out to be accurate. You might recall that in many of these rumors was mention of a smaller, more easily palmable version of the Z1, dubbed the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini.

According to rumors, the Xperia Z1 Mini is supposed to share many of the same hardware specs as the larger Z1 — Snapdragon 800 processor, 20.1MP camera, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage — the only differences being a 4.3-inch 720p display, and slightly smaller 2,400mAh battery. All this packed into a smaller overall frame which, needless to say, brought a high interest in a phone of this size and caliber.

However, upon closer inspection, it appears the Z1 Mini may have been “shopped, looking too much like a perfectly scaled down version of the Z1.

Sony Xperia Z1 Mini leak maybe

The image shows the Mini with only half the thickness of the larger Z1, while the size of the camera lens appears to be a tiny, scaled down version of the Z1’s. Somethings just not adding up here. You’ll also notice the corner of the phone where it’s almost touching the purple Z1 looks a little off as well.

Tough to say but perhaps we’re examining the image too closely. We’ll turn this one over to you guys. Using your keen eyes, do you think this latest leak is legit, or phony?
