AT&T officially announces Galaxy S4 Active, coming June 21st for $200 [VIDEO]

10

When AT&T posted a pretty obvious teaser for a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active announcement yesterday we weren’t sure how long it would take them to get the announcement out today. The company didn’t waste any time, though, as it woke up bright and early to announce official plans to carry the rugged version of Samsung’s 2014 flagship. The device will be available from June 21st, and it’ll cost you just $200 and a two-year contract agreement to go along with it. AT&T will begin pre-sales tomorrow.

The rugged space is a bit of a new area for Samsung in regards to high-end devices, and the South Korean company has come with some heat to make competitors take notice. The Galaxy S4 Active features a 5-inch 1080p HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera on the rear, a 2 megapixel camera on the front, Android 4.2 and more.

The phone’s IP67 specification makes it “life proof,” meaning you can do a cannon ball with this thing in your pocket and not worry about it. We obviously wouldn’t purposely subject the phone to such conditions, but if something like that does happen it’s nice not to have to worry. Be sure to keep this link bookmarked and return tomorrow to make sure you get one once they’re available. You can buy the device in “Dive Blue” and “Urban Gray.”

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I could rock this phone.

  2. Does it still have a removable battery?

    1. Yes, and SD card slot. The back is removable just like the standard S4, it just has a little seal around it to keep water out.

      1. Thanks.

  3. Nothing is Better than my HTC Hero, not even this

    1. Lolwut.

  4. This is one phone i would get…i wouldnt have to worry about jack sh!t damaging this baby. i wish Sprint would carry it….but LE SIGH for CDMA.

  5. Now introduce the best cooling system for overheating S4, dump it into water for fast cooling.

  6. This is a great concept and can think of a lot of people that would swoop this up, for several different reasons. It would be a shame if it’s an ATT exclusive.

  7. I dropped my last phone in the toilet and because I’m not on a carrier plan had to buy another one outright(ouch). The durability is what I want and need.
