While the Notion Ink Adam still hovers in the land of “we’ll believe it’s actually coming out when we see it,” the team is opening up early developer registration for those developers who want to get in the advanced time working on apps tailored to the device. Two hundred slots are open for devs to apply for, and those selected will each score an Adam to test and run code on.
Applications will be accepted until November 3rd, and the chosen few will be announced a week or so later. Don’t think you will be able to score the Adam if you don’t actually know what you are doing — Notion Ink is looking for detailed proposals. Well, if that’s what it will take to finally get our hands on this lauded yet mysteriously absent tablet, maybe it’s time to start taking up app development.

i only wished i was a developer :(. this device will be awesome period
I can’t wait to get my hands on an Adam to test my apps on them!
Just signed up, but you should really mention that you are requesting early access to the SDK and to PURCHASE one of these for $500.
Also signed up, I’m very excited about the Adam, and have been all year… :P
The terms and conditions are nonsense though, any app you write is only allowed to be distributed via their own app distribution mechanism, i.e. it prohibits you from distributing an app via the android market, getjar, etc.
If I write an app for an android device, I’d want it to be available on all android devices – It’s a shame that someone making an android device doesn’t really understand the advantages of an open system…
It’s really taking them a long time to release this thing.
I’m probably in the minority, but I’m not a fan of how this thing looks… kinda bulky for my taste. Might be different in person, though. Will this thing be outdated before it is even released?
I am very intrigued by Chris Lord’s feedback. It looks like Notion Ink is doing exactly the kind of thing Indian companies are known to do. Create a good product and then shoot themselves in the foot before putting it in their mouth. Adam has every potential to be a super success… I just pity it was conceived by an Indian start-up. I am Indian btw.
I am not going to buy a “Android” tablet no matter how powerful it is, even if it has Pixel-Qi and costs less than an iPad. Its ridiculous if I cannot take advantage of existing Android apps. What’s the point Notion Ink???
Don’t expect them before 2013 (and by then there will be no one to actually use them – you know, end of the world and all that ;))
I think the point is that they want notion ink tailored app entice the public to buy this tablet specifically. Like samsung or moto having device specific apps. Its business as usual.
You think you are going to get access to an unreleased tab without giving something back?
ahhh not sure if NI deserves those harsh comments… as dom says this is EAP only which is mainly catered to add some Adam-specific apps to the NI stable. its not Android apps that NI is locking etc.
Yes its not hit the shelves yet, yes its been a long wait; and its also true there is nothing like it out there which has hit the shelves or planned to be there…. so better be part of the revolution and be the change we want to see in the electronics industry.
btw, these are the 3 options (you can pick 1 or more) available to collaborate with NI.
HTH…
Developing and distributing applications (paid or free) through NI’s online market
Developing and distributing applications pre-installed on the NI devices
Distributing NI devices bundled with your software/services
I hope that pic is an old one. I love the idea behind the Adam…..but if it releases with a 4×3 grid its a no-go.
I can get 8GB for $18 here in Romania.
I got tired of waiting, and bought an IPad i wish they would not have taken so long to release.
I feel sorry for you!
