Nexus One Finds Home At Walmart
| by Rob Jackson on January 26th, 2010 |
The Google Nexus One will soon be available in Wal-Mart as the company is now displaying the phone’s availability directly on their website. Well not “directly” – the mobile sales are actually handled by LetsTalk.com but you get the point.

The phone is showing support for Sprint, Verizon and AT&T 3G bands which is an interesting twist. Engadget is optimistic that one device will support all these bands, but I’m guessing that it’s a pick your poison scenario – we’ll find out.
The price is up for debate – some are guessing as low as $99 – but I’m with Taylor from AndroidAndMe that it seems too good to be true.

I’m confused but I’m interested in further detail.

I might have to go back to AT&T my wife is eating up the minutes on our family plan – :P
So this would be great if AT&T gets the nexus one.

Oh, really? Hmm. I may have to take a look at this. I was about to get a Samsung Moment on Sprint, but if Wal-Mart starts offering a Sprint Nexus One, I’ve got to get that. (I hope we hear more about this really soon.)

No T-Mobile? ….Hmmmm…..I know Wal-Mart sells T-Mobile phones……Could this be related to the 3G problems the Nexus is having on the T-Mobile network?……Or maybe the Nexus will be landing in T-Mobile stores in the near future…..Either way Id like to play with one but I’m content with my Cliq since I’m getting Android 2.1 soon….Hurry it up Motorola!

I think once the N1 was announced, it was also announced it would be coming to verizon, but specifically would not be coming to sprint. They are referring to the fact that it is compatible with sprint, thats all.

Isn’t this just the same rumor we started with months ago? Super Cheap Super Phone that you can pick your network.

I don’t think this phone is actually going to be sold by Wal Mart itself. On the stores webpage it looks like it’s just a passthrough to the Letstalk.com website. I have a feeling this is going to be an online only purchase option. Feel free to check it out.

Choose your carrier, sounds good. Content with my hero as of now will upgrade Christmas season 2010 so Nexus One may be old by cell phone standards. Watching with both eyes open!!

I don’t know if you can take this to the bank, but when I went in to the T-Mobile store to make sure that everything was kosher with my switch from a BBCurve to the Nexus One, the TMo rep was especially excited to see it because they wouldn’t be getting any in store “until March.” Maybe that’s wrong, but if physical N1s are going to be in TMo stores, there’s no reason they won’t also show up at Walmart, etc.

I guess I’m blind because I’m not seeing anything on that page that indicates what Networks it will run on.

I would rather wait to see if the HTC Bravo turns up on Verizon and then I’ll jump in for the steal. HTC Bravo=sexy.

The author didn’t say it specified cariers, only that it supports their 3G bands. See the “Network Technology” section.

If you go to engadgets link for this they have an update…
Update: Seems Walmart slipped up! Spokesman Ravi Jariwala states:
“Due to a technical error, this item erroneously was displayed on our site. We’re working with our partner Let’s Talk to have it removed as quickly as possible. We have no plans to carry Nexus One in Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com at this time.”
Sorry everyone!!! (even myself)

Gone already.

^ That would’ve been nice though being I don’t have one yet!

Although this could happen the spokes person says “not at this time”. Not at this time could mean this not this week or month, but that does not mean that it couldn’t happen in the next few weeks or months to come!
