Meet My Motorola Droid (Unboxing Video)
| by Rob Jackson on October 28th, 2009 |
Ladies and gents… I’ve got the Motorola Droid from Verizon Wireless! Don’t be deceived by the word “unboxing” as this is more of an “unveiling” but hey – I wanted to let you know I’ve got it and a lot of awesome content, reviews, walk-throughs, guides and info are on the way:
This is the lamest unboxing ever. I admit. But I’ve got the Droid and you’ve got the idea.
UPDATE: Others have unboxed the Droid with the official retail packaging. Here is what it will look like found via YouTube:

Very cool. I’m very interested in hearing more. I have a Windows Mobile phone that has worked pretty well for me, but having hardware problems. I tried a Blackberry, but was disappointed. I’m particularly in email (POP) and synchronizing calendar and contract, preferably via Outlook. I haven’t seen anything in the reviews so far about these “business” functions yet.

Hey Rob make sure you do a size comparison. Like hold up a deck playing cards or another phone if you could. Glad you got the the phone man.

Mind sharing that grey wallpaper that comes with the Droid, now that you got it?
P.S Thanks for all the info you share.

Is that a notification LED I see?!

agree with the size comparison question. Please hold it up to a normal flip phone (like a razor or an alias) because some of use will be making this our first step towards a smart phone. Thanks. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited about anything. Lame but true.

And does it connect to computers? Running Windows? Is there a sync app to save contacts to Windows?
22. gocyanogen wrote on October 28, 2009
Wanna provide a system dump of this for us g1 owning people? The sooner we get a dump the sooner I have eclair on my g1~

Not sure why these “business” and Windows questions are popping up. It syncs your contacts to your Google account. You can sync to Outlook from there. That’s unless something has changed with 2.0 but there’s no desktop sync. However there are now APIs for building sync functionality into apps which to me wiill blow other phones out of the water. The ability to build syincing into any app that’s integrated into a central sync mechanism on the phone is sweet. I’m sorry but the IDont is definitely not leading the way in terms of smartphone functionality any more.
