A device that almost got lost in the CES 2012 hooplah, the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G has finally been given a more pinpointed release date for T-Mobile. The device’s most notable feature is the fact that it will run on T-Mobile’s super fast HSPA+ 42Mbps down network.
It will also be running off a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread pre-installed. The device, which seems to be a rehashed/souped up Nexus S, features a 3.97 (I’ll go ahead and call it a 4-inch) SAMOLED display with 5MP rear/1.3MP front facing cameras. It will be a bit more affordable than its Hercules brother, carrying a $150 price-tag (after $50 mail-in rebate).
You can expect the device in “late March” with no actual specific date given but I guess it’s better than nothing. My guess that the device wold be an HD version of the Hercules was totally off. Anyone interested in the Galaxy S Blaze on T-Mo?
BELLEVUE, Wash. — Feb. 22, 2012 — T-Mobile USA, Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the U.S.,1 today confirmed the upcoming March availability of the Samsung Galaxy S® Blaze™ 4G, exclusively from T-Mobile®. The Galaxy S Blaze 4G is the latest addition to the successful Galaxy S line of products, and T-Mobile’s newest fast 4G smartphone to take advantage of 4G (HSPA+42) technology, providing customers with the ability to browse the Web faster than the average home Internet2 connection while on the go.
Consumers are increasingly demanding more from their smartphones — keeping them entertained, staying connected with loved ones and enabling them to complete more tasks using a single device. A recent T-Mobile survey3 found 79 percent of smartphone users are less likely to carry other technology devices, such as cameras, laptops and GPS devices, when they have their smartphone.
T-Mobile’s newest 4G smartphone offers a variety of features and applications to help consumers be entertained and have access to the information they need when they need it. The Galaxy S Blaze 4G entertainment offerings make it easy for T-Mobile customers to stream their favorite movies on Netflix®, enjoy live or on-demand TV programs on T-Mobile® TV in mobile HD4 or download a popular movie or TV show using Samsung Media Hub. Additionally, the smartphone features TeleNav GPS Navigator, which provides hands-free, voice-guided turn-by-turn driving directions, real-time traffic alerts, full-color 3-D moving maps and local alerts, helping customers get to where they need to go. The Galaxy S Blaze 4G also comes preloaded with a customized version of the Yelp mobile application, featuring the ability to save profiles so users can keep preferences the same with one touch in any city, making it easy to find and read reviews for local places to eat, shop, drink and play.
Also pre-loaded on the device, the T-Mobile 4GPro App Pack offers an aggregation of key business applications, such as DropBox, Evernote, Square, TripIt, Camscanner and LinkedIn, helping busy consumers be even more productive while balancing their professional and personal lives.
“The Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G is loaded with rich features and services to keep consumers entertained and connected virtually anywhere they want to go,” said Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president, marketing, T-Mobile USA. “Paired with T-Mobile’s fast 4G network and our unlimited data plans, we’re making it easy for consumers to enjoy the benefits of 4G experiences at a price they can afford.”
Featuring a sleek and stylish form factor, the smartphone comes in a carbon black color and runs on Android™ 2.3 Gingerbread. The Galaxy S Blaze 4G also features a Snapdragon™ S3 processor by Qualcomm® with 1.5 GHz dual-core CPUs and a beautiful 3.97-inch Super AMOLED™ touch screen providing consumers with a rich experience watching their favorite movie or TV show on the device.
The Galaxy S Blaze 4G also makes it easy to connect and share photos and video with loved ones. It features a 720p HD video recorder, 5-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, flash and advanced shooting modes, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

Pass.
Very boring and nothing special. Tmobile never gets cream of the crop phones.
For the past two years they’ve had the most powerful android hardware compared to the other carriers PERIOD.
This is a device NOT meant for anyone who frequents tech blogs. There are plenty of non techie people who want the perks of a superphone: ( like HSPA+ 42 ) but can’t justify spending nearly $300 for one. This is a great bet for half that price.
“For the past two years they’ve had the most powerful android hardware compared to the other carriers PERIOD.”
I don’t usually reply rudely, but your statement was a bunch of crap.
What the heck are you talking about?
T-Mobile’s Android lineup HAS NOT been the most powerful, actually the opposite, probably the worst Android lineup.
Verizon is clearly the leader, they have been pumping out one powerful Android phone after the other.
-Thunderbolt
-Bionic
-Incredible 2
-Droid3/Droid4
-Razr
-Razr Maxx
-Rezound
-Galaxy Nexus
Verizon even has an impressive mid to low-range selection with Rhyme, Charge, Revolution, Xperia Play, Stratosphere, etc…the list goes on.
At&t even has a better selection than T-Mobile with Atrix, Atrix 2, SGS2, Skyrocket, Note, HTC Vivid, LG Nitro HD, and soon to be Skyrocket HD.
What the hell does T-Mobile have? SGS2, Amaze, and now Blaze?
Give me a break.
And the SGSII beats all of those phones aside from the G-Nex.
Thunderbolt, rezound, droid 3/4 and incredible 2 are crap.
yeah and i had my mytouch 4g way befor ethe thunderbolt even came out and its pretty much the same phone so you fail
uma fan is right t mob started the android revolution
and until recently has always had the best phones
all the phones u listed are very recent phones
this time last yr verizon was in the dust
g2,sidekick ,mytouch 4g ,lg g2x lg mytouch,,mytouch 4g slide,sensation ,amaze ,galaxy s2,
Typically when it comes the high end android hardware, T-Mobile gets it first.
The myTouch 4G and G2 were the first android phones with second gen snapdragon processors with the better GPU. Verizon Wireless launched the equivalent Thunderbolt half a year later. Around that time T-Mobile launched the dual core G2X.
A few months after that, T-Mobile launched the Sensation, which Verizon and at&t have no equivalent device. Sprint got the equivalent evo 3d a few weeks later.
The myTouch 4G slide is a high end dual core phone too which too often gets overlooked
T-Mobile again, got the Amaze 4G first, which is the equivalent of the Rezound for Verizon and the Vivid on at&t.
All that is just HTC, there’s a whole lot of other Samsung and LG mid tier to high end devices to pepper in there. Considering T-Mobile’s #4 marketshare position they do an excellent job at securing great devices. Everyone on these blogs is complaining and whining about that ONE phone they can’t have when a hardware equivalent is available.
I was until I saw it had buttons on the bottom and came with Gingerbread. Is it better than my Nexus S? Mostly. It isn’t worth it to upgrade to that when they will hopefully have a better ICS phone with 42mbps soon.

What a disappointment. I was sure it was going to be a sgs 2 with an hd display.
Galaxy S 3 plzzz
Nope, big swing and a miss. Hoping something better is coming soon.
This phone has six names. My next phone needs to have ten names or I will not be satisfied. Naming this stuff has gotten ridiculous.
Nope. Not a big fan of Samsung, and I’m waiting for a quad-core beast with 2nd gen Gorilla Glass. Come on, T-mo, give it to me!
what the heck kind of name is that?
“Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G”
Are you kidding me?
Since Blaze 4G just passed FCC under T-769, will that mean that T-999 is a Galaxy Nexus.
Gingerbread? Are you serious Samsung? Frickin jelly bean will probably be out in the summer and then your brand new phone will be 3 major releases behind the most current version of android. So much for an end to fragmentation……
