Galaxy Nexus Training Starts For Verizon Employees – Release More Imminent Than Ever

19

Digging up new info on the release date for Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus has been an almost grueling task. Since Verizon isn’t talking (ugh!), we’re forced to speculate based on the scraps we can dig up.

Take this new leak from a Verizon tipster, showing us that training has in fact begun for Google’s next flagship device. Typically, you can expect a device to launch within 2 weeks of when Verizon training starts. This pretty much lines up with the rumors we’ve been hearing from our various Verizon insiders and from all the chatter going on in our Android Forums’ Galaxy Nexus pre-release thread. No one can peg an exact date but it’s coming, folks. Hang in there!

  1. I would find it hilarious if the Galaxy Nexus outsells both the RAZR and Rezound, despite Verizon’s lack of willingness to market it.

    1. it will, verizon real great at rejecting good phones an selling crap.

      1. The razr and rezound aren’t crap. Most normal people who don’t visit sites like these have no idea about ICS and all that. They like the eye candy sense and blur provide and could care less how quick an update comes. Just saying.

      2. I WILL get the Nexus but I totally expect the RAZR to be a great selling phone.  Great marketing so far and its a pretty good phone….it should sell way more than the Nexus.

  2. Lol – what is Android 4.0? I don’t mean to make this sound demeaning, as I know there are sales representatives who are phone geeks, but what kind of person sells smartphones for a living without knowing what the latest version of Android is?

    1. 95% of Verizon customer service employees. The few times I’ve had to call them, I invariably got an idiot. Last year, I tried explaining patiently to some half-wit that Android 2.2 was Froyo – he insisted that it was Eclair (because “That’s what it is saying here”) – I had to hang up as I felt that I was slightly less intelligent for even having heard this from a person who is supposed to know at least the basics. He also tried to tell me that Flash support was available on 2.1, but disabled for 2.2
      O_o
I know that there are Verizon reps somewhere who do know what they’re talking about, but I haven’t talked to either of them.

    2. When I go to the Verizon store I like hearing what the reps have to say about a particular phone i’m interested in. It usually makes me feel good inside because I end up correcting them :)

    3. Most sales people at verizon. Multiple times I have gone in and heard them telling a customer something that was completely wrong and just laughed. Wanted to tell the people what was actually right but didn’t want to piss off the sales person. Maybe some day I will apply to work at verizon and help people get the real deal about phones.

      1. Good luck getting a job there.  Their application takes two hours just for them to hire one of these morons everyone is familiar with.  Don’t waste your time.  I keep trying to tell myself I didn’t get the job because I was overqualified haha

        1. Bosses/Hiring Managers don’t like it when you’re more knowledgable than they are. It’s intimidating. So they hire idiots.

  3. assuming this training was issued today, then two weeks from now is black friday. HMMMMMM…….. maybe verizon will offer a deal of some sort?

    1. That training has been there for a while. I was able to see it last week and it was actually published 10/01/11. Yesterday, my district and regional manager HINTED at a release date of 3 weeks from now. I am guessing VZW might want this as the Christmas blockbuster and release it after black Friday. Believe me, VZW REALLY wants the RAZR to be extremely successful that is why I will not be surprised if they keep pushing the RAZR through black Friday and release Nexus in December.
They had every single employee working today, and honestly the RAZR launch wasn’t even that crazy.. kinda disappointing really, but VZW did say pre-order numbers were BIG so they assumed just as many people would come to the store. I am assuming most tech savvy people like us on these blogs were the ones who pre ordered and the general public for the most part does not even know about the device. Yet somehow they will come in and say “I heard the iPhone 4S has battery issues?!?!?!” -_____-

      1. I wish I could find people like you when I go to VZW because most employees are morons, I hate asking them a question.

  4. i was in the vzw store today and the one of there fine sales people let me play with the rezound demo good looking phone

  5. Really interested in the Rezound ….

  6. Should include. What is rooting? Lol.

  7. I love the phone and I’m definitely going to have it on day one, but they really need to get the ball rolling.  The specs are fine for me but before you know it, this phone’s hardware specs will start quickly falling to the bottom of a long list of more powerful phones. Time is of the essence!

  8. Please quit using the word Imminent find a new synonym for the word soon because when its finally released itll be the same routine for all phones that you guys report on review, battery life issues, bugs ,root, accesories for (insert latest phone released)blah blah blah… love the site only android news site and app i use but the reporting formula needs some work as far as new phone releases go readers like me are getting bored….speculate, anticipate, rumorate, phones released… then itll be time to stir up galaxy s 3 rumors

  9. I really think I’m going to get the nexus on Verizon. I have T-Mobile ATM but its too much money too import from the UK for the hspa+ version. So LTE and the galaxy nexus here I come.
