Asus Eee Pad Slider Will Be Available By The End of Month for $475 [Video]

The eagerly awaited Asus Eee Pad Slider will finally be available in the US before the end of the month. According to Engadget who got some extended hands-on time with the tablet hybrid, the device will start at $475 for the 16GB model with the 32GB model jumping a hundred bucks to $575.

The Asus Eee Pad Slider features a 10-inch 1280×800 resolution IPS display, Android 3.2 Honeycomb and none of the heavy manufacturer skinning we’ve seen from OEM’s like Sony or Samsung. Is anyone still interested in this tablet? Still waiting for a quad-core Android tablet or has Windows 8 taken away some of the glitz and glamor of Honeycomb?

  1. Windows 8 hasn’t taken anything away for me. However after owning a Xoom, and a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (and have sold both) I’m not sold on Honeycomb. IMO right now (and here come the flames) iPad 2 is the only decent tab out there (I haven’t played much with a TouchPad). With that being said I don’t like Apple’s policy or philosophy so I wouldn’t buy an iPad either. I think my tablet buying days are on hold for now.

    1. Buy a touchpad.

They are, in my opinion, the greatest tablets available.

They lack apps, but if someone can get an Android app emulator on it, it would be great.

      Otherwise WebApps work great!

    2. Yeah, I kinda feel you there. As much as I WANT a tablet, still can’t justify the purchase. Maybe once the Kal-El Asus drops…. (need a keyboard) =p

  2. I’m still sold on the transformer form factor, with that sweet keyboard dock. So I’m waiting on the transformer 2. Quad core Ice Cream Sandwich FTW!

  3. Its a laptop..

    1. …that’s also a tablet O_o

      A… laplet?

      1. a taplet?

Maybe it should be a childhood broadway star.

        1. It’s a tabtop obviously.

  4. Can’t wait for the Toshiba at200

  5. I agree waiting for the sequel to the transformer it’s just gotta raise the bar quad core and ice cream sandwich that would be awesome.

  6. I’m still considering a few different tablets that are out there…the Git PRO, the Tosh AT200…and Windows 8 is looking pretty sweet actually. So I’m kinda in limbo right now. And, like many people on here, I can’t really justify shelling out 400+ dollars on something I don’t really need…at least not right now.

  7. This would be dope if the keyboard also housed a battery to give you like 14+ hours of use like the Transformer+dock. Waiting on the next gen tabs to drop. Should bring more power while sipping less of it. If there’s one thing I want its to be able to watch like a solid 10+ hours of movies and then some. My aging netbook can barely do one movie before bowing out. When on a plane or in an airport and your flight is 3 or 4 hours…well you’re out of luck.

  8. Seriously considering buying a Asus Transformer (current model) but it’s killing me that a newer one will be release in a few months. Anyone have any idea as to when the Transformer 2 will be release. I’m thinking November/December timeframe and I just don’t want to wait… sigh.

  9. Never cared for that in the earlier photos, but this video makes it look pretty amazing actually. I wonder how heavy it is though
