Dropsync which is one of my “must have” Android apps was recently updated in the Android Market. Quite frankly, this app is what the official Dropbox app should have been. Dropsync allows for real two-way syncing just like the Dropbox folders you have installed on your homecomputer. That means if you add a picture on your desktop computer, it’s automagically synced and available in your device. It works the other way around as well. Take a picture on your phone and watch as it’s already waiting for you on your laptop when you get home. Pretty awesome.
The update included some added bug fixes and enhancements like tablet support and the ability to sync your entire sd card. Other improvements include:
- Gallery, photo/video, music players are notified to update their cache
- Recover from various Dropbox error conditions, better to skip problematic files than to abort the whole sync operation
- Skip downloading files with invalid characters in names. In the future we will try to translate remote names to safe local names and back
Dropsync is available in both a free version that will allow you to sync one folder on your phone’s SD card, or a paid version that allows for unlimited syncing. If you enjoy simplifying your digital life then this is one app you wont want to miss.
Only thing i dont think i would like about that is I dont really want everything synced to my phone. Not familiar with dropsync but I have 10 gigs on dropbox and 6gigs free space on phone. I have had my dropbox full before also..
And if you put a file in your dropbox on phone it IS instantly available on PC (pretty much)
Sometimes I hate having to go to phone and ‘download’ whatever I just added to folder on PC but sometimes I like that I have to tell it to download something…
Like I said though I’m not familiar with Dropsync at all though…..
Yeah, I don’t have enough space in my Dropbox as I do on my SD card. But remember, you can sync specific folders (doesn’t have to be everything).
For instance, I only have my DCIM and Downloads folder synced on my phone and in Dropbox.
It’s nice cuz I never have to plug into a computer to transfer my photos :D
So dropsync syncs your dropbox?? I was thinking it was a totally different sync service. That makes way more sense, lol. Just from your screen shot up there it has some features I really wish my dropbox app had.

I don’t have to plug my phone in to transfer photos either. It is called Google+. :P
But you aren’t getting full-res versions of your photos with G+.
It looks like the computer software is Mac only. Is this correct? Nothing for Windows or Linux?
What are you talking about? This just works with your existing dropbox folder.
I don’t really understand how dropsync is different from the dropbox app? I can go into my dropbox app and all my stuff is there. Am I missing something?

Does this sync via Dropbox’s server, or can I transfer photos on my home wifi without it leaving my LAN?
