HTC Sensation Test ROM Leaks: Let the Porting Begin!

17

This didn’t take long at all, did it? After learning that only a few select HTC devices – including the HTC Sensation – would get HTC Sense 3.0, you’ll be pleased to know that the aforementioned phone has had its ROM leaked for all to download, look at, ROM up, and enjoy. We’re hoping it won’t take long for developers to port this to some of HTC’s newest phones that SHOULD be able to run this version of Sense such as the HTC Thunderbolt, Inspire 4G, Desire S, Incredible S, and more. Get the download from 911Sniper. [via PocketNow]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. LMAO, lets see how many “old” HTC phones can run Sense 3.0.

    1. I’d wager the Inc 1 can handle it with some proper tweaking

      1. If the Nexus One a phone that is 5 months older than the Incredible can run Gingerbread than I’m sure that phone can run Sense 3.0.

        1. That makes no “sense.” My original MyTouch can run Gingerbread (not well, but as well as Froyo.) Big difference between plain Jane Gingerbread and a Sense ROM (read bloat.)

          1. You got the the reply before I could lol. You’re spot on though. Gingerbread does not equal Sense 3.0. I wouldn’t call bloat the difference though. You say bloat, I say gorgeous UI though. I suppose as with any UI, it’s something of a YMMV/IMO thing

          2. What bloated noooo ;-)

  2. I was wishing for this to happen after reading the news this morning. Custom kernel on my MT4G running around 1.5 GHz with this ROM should work.

    1. Not a very reliable sounding response. Looks like some quick damage control.

      1. yea but its not a big deal. You’ll still get gingerbread, icecream,….umm jello? Just will be a different version of sense.

        1. Jellybean I hope lol

  3. ha! wow that was fast!

  4. The issue with newer version of sense is that the ROMs are massive in size. Older NANDs cannot cope without running some of the ROM via data2EXT which just makes the phone sluggish.

    1. marketing lies… the desire hd as a 1.5gb ROM, while the sensation has only a 1GB ROM, both devices have 768mb of RAM.

Infact the big different is the sensation has a smaller ROM and an extra core.

  5. ive noticed, that only dual core devices that htc has released have sense 3.0, maybe dual core is a sense 3.0 requirement .

    1. Well the Flyer has it and that has the same processor as the Inspire/Thunderbolt/myTouch 4G/Desire HD only running at a clockspeed of 1.5GHz.
