We will spare the argument for now about the veracity of T-Mobile’s branding of their HSPA+ network as 4G for now, as there seems to be no stopping the carrier from throwing the term around. Its latest use is in a correspondence sent over to the good folk at BGR outlining the promise to bring more 4G devices to the magenta network. This includes at least one 4G tablets, though if you want any more information than that don’t hold your breath.
“T-Mobile is working closely with the majority of our OEM partners to deliver 4G products by integrating HSPA+ into roadmaps in 2011 as the dominant global standard. Consumers will continue to see HSPA+ fuel future innovation in a variety of mobile consumer electronics from smartphones and tablets to emerging devices. T-Mobile will continue to be at the forefront of wireless innovation, delivering an aggressive 4G product lineup in 2011, including 4G tablets.”
Given how gaga the world has gone for 4G and tablets, there really was never any question. We’re willing to bet given the Android tablet scene that at least one such 4G device on TMo will feature Google’s OS.

Exactly, people only seem to get upset when T-Mobile calls their service 4G, even though no one else has 4G yet also call it 4G, and are slower than T-Mobile’s 4G. Also, why wern’t people all upset with Veirzon has they have never even offered 3G service! Part of teh 3G spec is to transmit data and voice at the same time, which Verizon never supported with their “3G” service. So at best, Verizon was only ever a 2G service! Why wasn’t everyone all up in arms over this? Hypocracy! Or maybe jealousy. By the way, I pay $105 per month for 4 phones (3 of which are Android phones), unlimited messaging, “unlimited” data, and 700 minutes with T-Mobile’s special no contract pricing. Not pre-paid where you have limited phone choices, NO CONTRACT where you can have any phone you want! I could leave T-Mobile at any time and wouldn’t have to pay $200 per line like the suckers that have Verizon, AT&T and Sprint have to. They don’t advertise their no contract pricing online, you need to call them or go into their retail stores to get the details and pricing.

@zorxd Actually T-mobile says their HSPA++ (42mbps) will be fully deployed by the end of 2011. This is good and bad because they do not mention if they will expand their current 3G coverage just that they will speed up what they have. I am good here in Houston we were one of the first cities to get HSPA+ in July.

That’s not the point. The point is why does everyone point out T-Mobile when they were just the last one to do it. Also, where was everyone pointing out Verizon for calling their network 3G when they never had 3G!
hspa++(end of 2011) tops out at 21mbps. and america doesn’t have what the rest of the world calls 4g so i guess its 4g to us.right? the end of 2012 will all together hold a craaaaaaazzzzzy speed for cel signal, when the entire globe must be digital.
If people would research then they would know why people are calling out T-mod because their “4G” is not even 4th gen technology. Thats why!!! At least LTE and Wimax fall under 4th gen technology even if its not true specific 4G speed. T-mob needs to commit to getting a decent 3G network before trying to do something else. What good is it if 2% of your “4G” network gets nice speeds and 50% of your 3G network barely gets edge. LOL Just not good at multitasking huh?

@swazedahustla t mobile’s service in my area is on par with verizons service i dont see why everybody rips on them for there service
@swazedahustla Maybe its you who needs to do some more research. Wimax and LTE are no more advanced technologies then Hspa+. They are all revamps of old tech. Also, tmobile is building their 3G service. HSPA+ is backwards compatable. I would say that is a smart move for them considering they as they expand their “4G” service they are helping their 3g costomers that havent had service before.

Thats good, but too bad all of t-mobs service isn’t just in your area. You do know that just because your area gets a good signal, it aint like that everywhere right?? LOL
YAAAAAY!!!!! And T-Mobile is OFFICIALLY 4G now according to the old dudes who mandate that stuff. GO T-MOBILE!!!! lol Look, all I know is that my myTouch 4G can hold its own in a “foot” race with any other device out there, and that’s without rooting. So good job magenta, now if only we could convince you to release a myTouch google experience phone!!!! lol I’m very excited to see this 4G Tablet, but I’m going to wait and actually see it before I give predictions
I hate the T Mobile commercials mocking AT&T for their lack of 4G service. All I wanna know is when will T Mobile provide 3G in areas that Verizon and AT&T both do? I switched from Sprint to the other worst carrier..T Mobile. When my contract is up this year I’m going to Verizon…the best coverage overall bar none, unless T Mobile shapes up. I don’t care about 4G just give my smart phone an equal chance with 3G.
