Elevation Lab has an accessory that extends the AirTag battery to 10 years

0

Apple’s AirTag lasts pretty long. The accessory uses a CR2032 battery which is said to be good for about a year. That’s already pretty decent, but in case you want to take things even further, then you might want to consider getting your hands on Elevation Lab’s TimeCapsule AirTag accessory.

The TimeCapsule AirTag accessory is basically an enclosure for your AirTag. Within the enclosure sits a pair of AA batteries. According to Elevation Lab, they claim that with the AA batteries powering the tracker, it will offer 14x more battery life compared to the standard CR2032 battery. This should roughly equate to about 10 years, which is kind of insane.

The only downside to this accessory is that it’s bigger than the actual AirTag. If you plan to use the AirTag on a keychain then this is not the accessory for you. However, if you want to use it for tracking your luggage, a vehicle, or something larger where you can hide the device, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

The entire enclosure is currently available for purchase via Amazon where it is priced at $20 for a single device, but the 2-pack and 4-pack will be cheaper. Apple is expected to announce the AirTag 2 next year. We’re not sure if the updated accessory will come with better battery life, so we’ll have to wait and see.
