Many companies are working on their own AI efforts these days. Meta is one of them. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that Meta is trying to integrate its AI across its products and services, such as WhatsApp. This is according to a recent report from WABetaInfo who discovered the feature in the latest beta.
According to the report, it looks like a future update for WhatsApp will include a new search bar that will give users access to Meta AI. This will allow users to ask the AI questions directly within the app itself. This means that instead of launching a separate app, or opening a chat with a chatbot, or using the web, users can make queries without having to leave WhatsApp.
This in turn could potentially get users to use Meta’s AI more and become familiar and maybe even reliant on it. So far it seems like the AI feature will be similar to other AI such as ChatGPT. You can ask it questions and it can reply. We can assume that future iterations could come with more powerful tools.
Since this was found in the beta of WhatsApp, those not in the beta won’t be able to access it. There’s no word on whether it’ll debut in the next update, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
