Another day, another new Android phone announcement, and this time it’s courtesy of Nokia. The Finnish electronics giant recently unveiled its latest addition to its Android phone lineup in the form of the Nokia G42 5G, a budget-friendly smartphone.
Priced at around $250, the phone comes with a large 6.56-inch IPS display with a 720 x 1612 pixel resolution, in addition to a 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Nokia has decided to use a rather old design however, as seen with the waterdrop notch cutout on the screen. The phone is made out of polycarbonate, and is available in either grey or purple.
The G42 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 480+ 5G chipset, alongside 128GB of internal storage, and a choice of either 4 or 6GB of RAM (depending on region). The phone does ship with the current Android 13 OS, which is a much-welcome sight on an affordable handset. There’s also a 5,000 mAh battery onboard with support for 20W fast-charging.
There’s a trio of cameras on the phone, which include a 50-megapixel main camera, and a couple of 2-megapixel macro and depth sensors; video quality is rather basic, maxing out at 1080p resolution at 30fps. Meanwhile, the waterdrop notch houses a modest 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
