It’s been said time and time again, but we were just waiting on the word to come straight from Magenta. T-Mobile’s MyTouch 4G (yes, the mystery is now officially over.) will be launching November 3rd for $199.99 after a two-year agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate. (And you can bet there will be some deals on it from various other third parties shortly after its launch.)
This also puts an end to the 4G vs 3G debacle we’ve been entertaining lately. T-Mobile has every right to name their phone the MyTouch 4G, and they’re referring to their HSPA+ network as having “today’s 4G speeds.” That means their marketing campaign just got the green light without fear of just reprehension. (In other words, someone at T-Mobile probably just shouted out “Take that, Sprint!”)
The T-Mobile myTouch 4G is the latest addition to T-Mobile’s exclusive line of Android-powered myTouch smartphones. Designed specifically to deliver today’s 4G speeds on T-Mobile’s rapidly expanding HSPA+ network, the myTouch 4G will offer customers blazing fast access to websites, applications, videos, downloads and more.
The myTouch 4G is expected to be available in the U.S. exclusively to T-Mobile customers beginning November 3 for $199.99 (after a $50 mail-in-rebate), plus taxes and fees, with a two-year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan. The myTouch 4G will be available nationwide through T-Mobile retail stores and online at www.T-Mobile.com.
The myTouch 4G will also be available nationwide beginning November 3 through select third-party dealers and leading national retailers including Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, Sam’s Club and Target. Pricing may vary at independent dealers and national retailers.
You can visit http://mytouch.t-mobile.com/ for more information about the myTouch family of smartphones, including the myTouch 4G.

how long does it take for the buy 1 get 1 deals to come around? This would be sweet for video chat with grandparents in other city.
And how will they call their 21 Mbps device? 5G?
Nah, zord. Leave that to Sprint.
@zorxd If the speeds are comparable to competitors 5g, then probably yes. Its all marketing.
Is this running stock Android or Sense?
While I am not crazy about them calling it 4G, it does hold some water. Speeds are almost comparable. Also, Verizon stated that HSPA+ was a “4G” option they considered before deciding on LTE.
Are they charging 10 dollars extra a month for HSPA+ like sprint did? If not i will also say…. Take that Sprint!
Ugly. Just plain ugly.
Will not be buying this cheap, plasticy pos.
@ATV360
No, they don’t charge extra for HSPA+, but they do charge you $15-$30 extra for being on contract (as backasswards as that is).
Another cheap plastic MT rom teen mobile
I wonder how much it will cost without a contract.
Without contract, it’ll be full price. Likely, $500. The way better spec phones keep coming out every other month or so, no contract plans make sense. Buy phone full price & when next best thing comes, turn around & sell it to buy the newer one. Pretty sweet deal. Hard to keep a phone longer than 6 months anymore. QuantumRand, not backwards-when tmo subsidizes phone price or any carrier, discount=contract w anyone.
Played with one for about 45 mins yesterday. I had thought it was gonna be a cheap pos too. I was wrong. It was a very very nice phone. A large upgrade from the original. Although I still wish It had a larger screen i can deal with it. Lets just hope cyanogenmod and team douche get there hands on one early.
The best of the myTouch line, FFC & equivalent specs to Galaxies & G2! Rock on T-MO!
Played with one in the store-wow, what a huge jump this is even from the mySlide, which I love, but this one is twice the phone I expected!!!
So much ragging on the plastic when most people haven’t even handled it yet. Build quality appears to be solid according to everyone that has held it so far. I don’t recall this much complaining over the Galaxy S phones being plastic. Probably because this is a mytouch phone.
I’m glad T-Mobile finally jumped on the “4G” marketing bandwagon. If Sprint can call their network 4G, and T-Mobile’s is faster, why not call it 4G? And not making data more expensive, take that Sprint!
I think that this could be my next phone. From all the early hands on stuff it sounds pretty sweet, not a pos. I don’t know why people can’t see that t mobile has some great phones. But then, haters gonna hate.
@tim – Almost as fast as Sprint? T-Mobile’s 4G is faster. Just read some reviews…
@Newby – Cheap plasticy? Go to a store and check it out…it’s a solid piece of hardware!
@QuantumRand – Yes they do charge more for contract plans because you get a discount on the device.
now tthat i think about it, the thing that does it most for me is the HARDWARE BUTTONS. i hate capacitive buttons that most phones use. dont register the touch sometimes and can be a pain in the ass
And for all who don’t think so, this is the HTC Glacier! Showed up as the device name in the bluetooth settings.
@Alex: You’re an idiot!! Why? Just because…
Thank you Jonattan. Must feel great insulting people on the Internet just because you won’t get punched in the face in return. You’re a real man.
I like mytouch i had thr mytouch &myslide ima just get rid of my samsung vibrant for this
I’ve held the mytouch HD(4g) far from plastic POS…..very solid, heavy feel….much sturdier feeling than the Samsung Galaxy line…stop knocking before trying!!
@newby are you stupid that “cheap, plasticy pos” is amazingly solid, even got a metal battery cover just like some other htc made phones, and it benchmarks way faster than anything else in the android community, the closest competition is the desire hd and even that is 200 points behind on quadrant
besides these idiots saying this is a cheap pos. im gonna wait for the nexus s (nexus 2 or whatever its called) and stock gingerbread to decide which phone im getting and i only have to wait till november 8th for more incite on the nexus s, my only worry on that phone is the fact that it is supposedly alot like the galaxsy s series and i dont like the casing of those phones, if it is more like the nexus one or mytouch then h*ll f**kn yahhhh
Hope the mytouch 4G is better than the original mytouch I had to replace my phone 5 times rin 1 yr because my phone kept messing up
