Instagram to start testing changes to its feed that will take advantage of your phone’s large display

0

Instagram has been around since the early days of the smartphone where cameras were lower resolution and displays were smaller. These days, our smartphones have considerably larger screens and can take much better photos, and so Instagram is hoping to take advantage of that.

In a video posted on Twitter, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced that the company will start testing out some changes to the feed where photos and videos will now occupy a much larger portion of the display. We won’t say it’s going full screen since it technically isn’t, but the media you see on your feed will fill up more of your screen.

It actually looks pretty good and we can’t help but feel that maybe Instagram is trying to better compete against other platforms like TikTok. TikTok’s feed pretty much takes up the entire screen per post so users don’t get distracted by other posts, so maybe that’s what Instagram is going for here.

Keep in mind that this is just a test so if you don’t see these changes, don’t worry because it isn’t necessarily available for all users. Also, there’s no guarantee that Instagram will make these changes available for all because based on the feedback they get, they might decide to scrap it entirely. Either way, what do you think about these changes? Yay or nay?
