One of the features of TikTok is that users can pin posts to the top of their profile page. Basically what this does is that it allows users to curate their best/most important posts so that people who visit their profile page will be able to find it easily.
It looks like Instagram could be “borrowing” the feature, according to a report from Alessandro Paluzzi who discovered the upcoming feature. When users pin a post, it will appear at the top of their profile page with a pin icon next to it, letting others know that it is a pinned post. Based on what Paluzzi discovered, users will be able to pin a maximum of three posts.

To be fair to Instagram, prior to this the company had a “highlights” feature that was kind of similar in nature, but instead of regular posts, the highlights feature had more to do with Stories which are designed to last for 24 hours, so this was a way for users to preserve certain Stories that they didn’t necessarily want to keep in their profile.
Instagram has since confirmed to TechCrunch that this is a feature that they are testing, but stopped short of saying when it will be launching. According to a Meta spokesperson, “We’re testing a new feature that lets people feature posts on their profile.”
