The last few years have been rather rough for Huawei, as the company continues to see issues with the U.S. Government. This has forced the company to sell off one of its sub-brands, Honor, who looks to turn the corner in 2021.
A new report states that Honor plans on shipping up to 100 million smartphones, which would equate to about 40% more than what has currently been on the dockets. This is slated to be more than Honor’s old parent company, who will reportedly aim to ship around 60 million devices over the course of 2021.

Now that Honor is operating as a separate entity, there are a few more questions that need to be answered before it can go “full speed ahead”. The most important comes down to the suppliers, in which Honor is currently in talks with signing contracts, but these also have to be approved by the U.S. before the company will be able to sell its devices here in the States again.
Two major supplier negotiations are coming from Qualcomm and MediaTek, who are both vying to have their chipsets included in Honor’s future handsets. Neither company has “sealed the deal” as of yet, with negotiations still ongoing, but things look to be trending in the right direction.
What’s going to be interesting to see is whether Honor is going to be able to pull off this deal to get its phones into the hands of the U.S. market. If everything goes the way it’s expected to, we will likely begin to see the Play Store and other Google services pre-loaded again. It’s an exciting time for the budget market, as there is no such thing as too much competition.
