In 2019, 5G smartphones were mostly limited to flagship handsets, which also meant that they came with flagship prices attached to them. This means that if you wanted a 5G handset, you’d have to fork out a fair bit of money for it, but if you’d rather not, Coolpad has your back.
Making its debut at CES 2020, Coolpad has announced its new 5G smartphone in the form of the Coolpad Legacy 5G. This is a 5G smartphone that will be wallet-friendly as the company says that it will be available for purchase for under $400, making it half the price (if not more) than some of the 5G models we saw in 2019.
In terms of specs, we’re looking at the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset and where it will also be accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Other specs include a 6.53-inch FHD+ display along with a 48MP + 8MP rear-facing camera combo, a 16MP front-facing camera, and a 4,000mAh battery. It will also come with Android 10 preinstalled.
As Coolpad notes, this will be part of the company’s Legacy family of 5G handsets so it will be just one of several 5G products the company plans to launch this year. There is no set release date just yet, but Coolpad plans on making the Legacy 5G available in the second quarter of 2020.
