2019 was the year when we first started to see 5G phones being released. There weren’t too many options given that 5G is still relatively new, but 2020 is when we expect that the market will be populated with more 5G smartphones, and if you’re in the market for a 5G handset, you can add TCL to the list.
The company has announced that they will be launching their first 5G smartphone later in the year in the form of the TCL 10 5G. The specs of the phone are a bit sparse, but according to TCL, the phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series 5G SoC that was announced last year.
For those unfamiliar, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 765 and 765G back in 2019 which are a series of mid-range chipsets. This means that the TCL 10 5G will most likely be a mid-range phone which means that it will come at a relatively affordable price. This is good news for those who have been a bit disappointed that 5G smartphones back in 2019 were pretty much all flagship handsets.
According to TCL, they expect that their phones will be priced under $500 and will be launching in Q2 2020 where they will come with features such as a quad rear-camera setup and also the company’s NXTVISION tech, which apparently will provide advanced display optimization and camera technology.
